Poor Obama, he never gets a day off.

So what about the point Michelle made that Obama is often better prepared for briefings than the people briefing him? There is certainly at least a widespread perception that Dubya didn't do his homework and then made decisions on his "gut" rather than based on research or solid information. There's also the whole notion that he was more or less the puppet of Cheney and/or Rove.

I wonder who told her that.

I doubt if any president is usually better prepared for briefings that the people briefing them. If they are they need to get better briefers

This kind of criticism is all the Republicans are left with. They can't win on relevant issues.

You are looking at the wrong side of the ledger. Govt. revenues went up over 50%, that's the results to look at. Spending is a totally different matter.

When you use their own words against them, there is no conspiracy theory. Clearly, you need to take the blinders off. The funniest part of the facts is that Obama actually hired Franklin Raines to be his economic advisor!!.. as mentioned in the video.

Reading is fundamental..

""The Obama White House likes to say that the theories of John Maynard Keynes form the foundation for its fiscal policies. Most notably, it draws upon the legendary British economist's idea of spending big to pull out of a recession.""

http://money.cnn.com/2010/02/04/news/economy/meltzer_keynes.fortune/

check and mate...yet again..

And yet none of those things were allowed to happen.

Yeah, its nice to know the Democrats would never stoop to criticizing a president over how much vacation he takes.

Oh wait...

Of course they do. Indeed, it's more important than some things that politicians get criticized for. (Right now Gingrinch is being criticized for taking vacation right before an important debate, although a lot of that criticism is coming from his former staff.) If Obama took an inordinate amount of vacation, I'd expect him to be criticized for it, and rightfully so.

However, it is also true that visiting other countries is more of a "working vacation" for a president than it is for a lot of other jobs.

Fabricating these "vacation" times is a far cry from criticisms of Bush's extensive amount of time at the ranch. I take it you bought into the "100's of millions for a vacation in India" nonsense as well?

Sure, but in a legitimate sense of the word "hyperbole" she could have been accurately describing the difference between a president who is indeed generally well-informed and prepared for briefings than one who seemed to lack intellectual curiosity and was happy to be "the decider" even while ignorant of pertinent information.

I'm not privvy to what goes on in White House briefings so I don't know if it's so, but I think it at least sounds credible. Does anyone have any actual information? (Like what his advisors may have said about his level of preparation?)

You can be sure that no one outside his own, now non-existent, campaign organization misses Newtie when he's spending his phony charity contributions on vacation.

Except me. I like to write about his, ahem, achievements in forum posts, and I need him around, achieving great, silly things. But it is quite funny to officially announce your campaign and then promptly disappear on vacation. The usual procedure is to hit the campaign trail hard on the heals of an announcement. But then, he's running a campaign like no other.

Not at all. I understood that his trip to India was part of his job as POTUS. Just like I understand that Bush was still able to take care of business while on his ranch. In fact I recall during one of his vacations, him seeming to give press conferences every day. Are you assuming that Bush did not get daily briefings or spend time doing other business related to the office of POTUS while in Crawford?

Look at my posting history. I am a moderate liberal, I voted for and continue to support Obama. I just took issue at your rhetoric implying that our side would never engage in such tactics. We did when Bush was POTUS and it was just as stupid then as it is now.

I don't agree. Bush's vacationing was one of the reasons he took so long to respond to Katrina.
