I blame the Whigs.

Had they not been so dead-set against Andrew Jackon, none of this would have happened.

I hope that every criticism of the performance of the federal government in preparedness and reaction to this crisis won't be dismissed as just "politicizing." I mean, it is possible that the boy-king Bush is actually consequentially incompetent.

Certainly it's possible and we should review such things to be better prepared in the future.

However, I am curious what Presiden Bush did wrong?

I've pretty much narrowed the blame down to two things:

1. God is punishing gay people.

2. The enviroment is collapsing because of Bush's.

Honestly, what else could it be?

There are those who say federal funds badly needed for levee repair and maintenance were significantly reduced (or diverted) to pay for Bush's war in Iraq:

I don't know enough about the situation to yet hold an opinion either way. But I'm sure Bush's top staff is meeting to discuss the biggest question of the day -- how can they blame this on Bill Clinton? :D

I blame Pat Robertson.

I saw him on television a few days ago talking about the hurricane. He wanted us to think God the hurricane wasn't any worse.

That could be fair critisism, though it seems more like a state issue to me.

Was the Superdome built with city money? Because I bet for the same price they could have upgraded the levees.

I blame the FRENCH!!

Those bastards built a city in a hole near the Gulf, then sold it to us! I think we should tell the brie-eating, snail-munching cretins to give us back the five bucks we paid for it!!!!

Speaking of people who say stupid things, did anyone see Chris Mathews of Hardball interview I think the mayor of Houston? He says, I'm paraphrasing: "Sir, one more question, and this is kind of a whimsical question, but we all could use a little whimsy at this time I think: where are the Astros going to play their home games if the Astrodome is holding refugees?"

The serious and somewhat haggard reply: "Uh, Chris, the Astros play in Minutemaid park; they don't play in the Astrodome anymore."

The levees and pumping system are paid for by the federal gov't, and built and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. It may be fine in the future to say f.u. to Louisiana -- we're not paying to keep N.O. dry, but at the time it was the U.S. govt responsibility, Bush was cutting the funding for the Corps to continue its work.

They even fired the head of the Corps for having the temerity to be honest but disloyal about it. read it here

Well crap I didn't know Bush was Environmentalist!

The administration's budget slashed funding for two flood control projects in the Mississippi Delta, the Yazoo Pumps and the Big Sunflower River Dredging, from a combined $9 million in fiscal 2001-2002 to $565,000 for the 2002-2003 fiscal year, which begins July 1.

Environmentalists have termed both projects "boondoggles," while many Delta residents and farmers have called them vital for the region's future.

"It's a great day for taxpayers and the environment," said Louie Miller, legislative director for the Mississippi Sierra Club, one of the corps' fiercest critics in the state.

I'm on the edge of my keyboard. Don't leave us in suspense! Bush's what?

I had meant to type "lax environmental policies", but I suppose you can pretty much fill in the blank with anything if you are one of those Bush-bashing types. :p

(Exposing extreme ignorance......)

Why is the army building bridges and damns in our country anyway. Don't we have civil engineers for that?

(Let the thrashing begin)

Priorities man, priorities! We are talking about sports here. NO needed an upgrade for their stadium and the money it would bring in for the team. I mean, how many losing seasons did they have?

Well knock me over with a feather! Did anyone tell him?

The fate of anyone who brings up facts that aren't agreeable to the Bush Agenda. Meanwhile the likes of Bolton and Tenant are either given awards or promoted.
