Planned Parenthood Aids Pimp's Underage Sex Ring

It's amusing to me...you people are literally arguing that when a person approaches you and asks you to help them cover up their crime, you should just go along with it!

*facepalm*

It's amazing to me how strong the blinders you wear are. You've completely ignored the posts that point out there were other factors involved than just your overly simplistic view of the situation.

your argument might have some credence...if not for the fact that PP fired the employee.

What exactly are you arguing with me about?

I'm pro-choice, so it can't be about abortion.

I agreed with PP's actions in firing the employee.

If you disagreed with that action, then argue with PP...take to the streets, protest, etc.

I don't work for them!

Apparently you've forgotten what your position on this story was:

I know and it's quite amusing that they did...

It would be as if, Chris Hanson was running his Dateline "To Catch A Predator" sting...with fake underage actors playing a part, and catching the perverts breaking the law...and then the pervert (Planned Parenthood in this case) reported Chris Hanson to the FBI!

*facepalm*

PPH got caught...they know they did...and they admitted it.

You compared Planned Parenthood as an organization with a pedophile. Clearly the employee was attempting to help the fictional underaged prostitutes and the event had been reported to the FBI, for which you accused Planned Parenthood of hypocrisy.

I don't know the exact reasons they fired that one employee. Perhaps she didn't handle it the best way possible. Maybe they just aren't sufficiently trained to deal with anti-abortion dirtbags who take things they say out of context and attempt to make a national incident out of nothing. Maybe Planned Parenthood saw how ACORN was taken down by these underhanded tactics and were trying to mitigate the damage.

The questions are (1) why do you give these kinds of videos any credence after being fooled by them once before and (2) how does defunding Planned Parenthood solve anything or in anyway desirable?

1) the video has credence because (a) PP admitted wrongdoing and fired the employee and (b) PP said they would change their training procedures

2) it's desirable for some to not have their tax $ fund abortions. I also understand it's desirable for some to not have their tax $ fund wars too...so they try to defund the military. that's how the game is played.

Is it desirable for you not to have your tax dollars fund abortions? Do you realize that Planned Parenthood does more than just provide abortions?

Me personally? Even though I am pro-choice, yes, I don't think my tax money should be used to fund abortions and in fact, by law, PP isn't allowed to do that.

Yes, I realize PP does more than just provide abortions.

Wait? You use the fact that she got fired as arbiter whether she did something wrong or not? But you also use the fact that she worked there in the first place to judge the organization?

Can you see the problem in logic with this?

You use the fact that she got fired as arbiter whether she did something wrong or not?

I use the video evidence AND PP's own words as the proof she did something wrong. PP agreed and fired her.

But you also use the fact that she worked there in the first place to judge the organization?

She worked for PP...she was representing PP at the time the video was made.

I also expressed my own personal beliefs that she seemed as if this situation was a normal thing at PP...as if, "You're a pimp with underage prostitutes...no problem! Here's how we can help you!". Now whether or not PP routinely sees this type of scenario and this is how they deal with it, who knows. They fired the employee, they're changing their procedures...good for them for doing the right thing.

See, people on the insane far right might PRETEND to be pro-choice, but merely against tax-funded abortions. But that is just a dishonest pose. The real agenda is to shut down abortions.

Then they will progress to pretending to believe in a woman's right to use birth control, but pretend they are merely against tax-funded birth control. The real agenda is to make birth control unavailable.

In their minds there is no moral difference between the two, you see.

So, by setting up Planned Parenthood, they are killing two birds with one stone.

The insane far right might claim that they follow the Commandments, but the ninth Commandment is one they only follow when it is convenient to claim that they are honest. They are fundamentalists all right; Fundamentally Dishonest. And when they post on internet fora, they are almost universally truculent trolls.

When someone asks you to help them cover up a crime, do you:

A) help them
B) don't help them
C) help them, but call the police
D) don't help them and call the police

I pick D
That you wouldn't pick C reflects on your total absence of medical training.

there was nobody there claiming they needed a life-saving abortion...there was no urgency to provide the "underage prostitute" with immediate care.

It's not the abortion assistance I have an issue with...again, I'm pro-choice...it's the employee willingly, and to me nonchalantly, trying to help someone cover up a crime which she believed true.
PP no doubt treats many prostitutes. It goes with the territory. Beyond the prostitution laws, I doubt the LPN in that video was thinking of how age affected prostitution laws, or the fact young girls are often forced into the sex trade. She was more likely than not, only thinking of how age affects access to care.

SkepticGinger, I don't need a medical education to know you don't willingly offer to help someone break the law.
That's because your world is black and white. But the real world is not. You think you can isolate a decision and say this is absolutely right. You aren't considering one often has to prioritize a decision. If you can only offer medical care or only call the police but not both, and we are talking about a crime like prostitution not a crime like fixing a shooter's bullet wound or suspected child abuse (more judgement required), then your black and white world is a fail.

The employee in the video is an LPN that doesn't think prostitution is wrong. She's interacting with the man and girl in a very non-judgmental way. That bothers people to no end. But the fact she reported the encounter to her supervisors says she was doing the right thing despite not personally being morally bothered by prostitution.

I doubt the comment that some of the girls didn't speak English and were young triggered the LPN to think of possible sex slave situations. That's ignorance on her part, not aiding and abetting the worst of the sex traders. I don't believe the LPN would think it was fine if the 14 yr old non-English speaking girls were not selling themselves on a completely voluntary basis.

I don't agree the LPN should have counseled the two on which lies to tell. That's why she was fired. Notice she says the NP will indeed ask questions. I think the employee should have been counseled. It would have been a good learning opportunity.

Having been in the work setting in the video (I don't work for PP but I have done clinical training there) and having worked with all levels of LPNs from less educated LPNs to very educated LPNs, I doubt this LPN was thinking about prostitution laws. I think she was thinking of access to care laws. The employee was no doubt motivated to facilitate access to care, not facilitate prostitution. But like I said, it bothers some people to no end that someone wouldn't think prostitution was immoral and wouldn't act like they thought prostitution was immoral in an encounter such as this one.

Ahhh...so you are pro-choice, pro-birth control, pro-STD testing, pro-cancer prevention screening, etc if the person can pay for it themselves. So while you are pro-choice (for middle class and up), you are also anti-Planned Parenthood. You would rather see your 12 cents a year in federal tax earmarked for federally funded health care go someplace else.

conspiracy forum is that way ----->

I'm pretending to be pro-choice the way Obama is pretending to be a Christian...sure...sure, BenBurch!

(a) What wrongdoing exactly did they admit to? and (b) doesn't even necessarily relate to wrongdoing. It could very well be that Planned Parenthood now has to train their people to be on the lookout for anti-abortion scammers like this group.

and in fact, by law, PP isn't allowed to do that.
Do they or do government funds go for other aspects of Planned Parenthood's functions? If Planned Parenthood were actually breaking the law with regards to how they use government funds, then you might have a case.

As it is, these shame film makers had to invent a controversy, as was done with ACORN.

Surely, even if you disagree with how they use your tax dollars (which there doesn't appear to be any evidence they have done so illegally) and you don't disapprove of Planned Parenthood's mission, wouldn't you prefer that Planned Parenthood be judged on their own merits rather than for non-existant controversies?

That you wouldn't pick C reflects on your total absence of medical training.

There was no immediate medical emergency that warranted the employee helping the "pimp and his prostitutes" in that instant.

D was the correct response. C would be ok if it was an emergency and the "prostitute" was dying.

The employee in the video is an LPN that doesn't think prostitution is wrong.
...

She can think whatever she wants...but when she uses federal tax dollars to help someone break the law, that crosses the line. PP agreed and they fired her.

...

It doesn't bother me. I don't think it's immoral when between two consenting Adults...in fact, I think it shouldn't be illegal at all.

Your argument isn't with me...it's with PP.

They admitted the employee acted wrongly.

You should stand up for your beliefs and start a protest at PP headquarters demanding that PP employees should NOT be fired if they're caught trying to help pimps and their underage prostitutes
