Palin not running.

I thought this was quite funny:
"After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States,"

If you are Sarah Palin, probably a bad idea to ask God if you should run for President and expect a reply you like.

Shock.

Stunned silence.

I'm a bit hungry.

One of these descriptions of me in relation to the news is true. Can you guess which one?

Anaphylactic shock can simulate the effects of hunger, so I'm unsure.

In other news, Gled Rice did her.

And the response is ... so what?

@ Peephole

Too bad you missed a chance at this gem, of irony.

Of late, Herman Cain is the Great White Hope.

Laugh with me, I never saw this one coming.

It'll be interesting to see if Republican voters nominate a black man. The party elite brought on Michael Steele, mostly for reasons of optics, and he was a disaster.

I think the Cain (great name) would be doing better if he was white. His main problem seems to be lack of experience with the process.

Predictable but I have to admit I think she punched out a bit too early to maximize her earnings potential (her obvious goal all along). She quit being the Governor of Alaska 2 1/2 years into her first term. Is she really going to have any remaining "star power" in 14 months?

I don't think that Cain would be doing better if he were white. He might be doing worse. He has significant liabilities as a candidate, and I wouldn't attribute it to racism if the Republicans pass on him.

1) His economic ideas are genuinely kooky and unworkable (and that's supposed to be his strong suit).
2) He knows nothing about foreign policy, and says that he would take advice from people like John Bolton. He won't say what his foreign policy would be other than who he would go to for advice.
3) He said that he wouldn't have a Muslim on his staff because that would mean that America would be ruled by Sharia law. Now he says that he would hire a Muslim, but only if they took a special loyalty oath for Muslims.

That's just for starters.

The true test would be if they had a better black candidate as a choice.

Just had an AP alert on my phone; Palin is not running.

Not that this should be a surprise.

Well that is shame!

I was hoping that Palin would run. In fact, I had already pledged money to her campaign if she ran and more money if she got the nomination.

Oh well! I guess the Republican/Tea Party faithful will just have to be satisfied with her periodic schreeches about the 2012 elections instead of her full-time shreeching while on the 2012 election trail.

Also, since she is not running, then that should enable her to make a least a few more million from the lecture/rally circut.

Personally I think this is the reason in a nutshell. That and she knows she will not win.
