Palin & Family Guy

I think that he really does. That's part of the morbid fascination of reading his posts. It isn't unlike driving past a horrible car wreck on the highway. You know that there isn't anything there you need or should want to see, but you can't stop yourself from looking anyway.

This is quit revealing. Your only inclination is to gawk at an accident while never considering to lend assistance. I figured your lack of character was confined to the internet. It appears it permeates your life in general.

So it's Ok for Letterman to call A-Rod a child molester, but S.P. can't call Letterman a child molester? How dare S.P. make a joke at Letterman's expense. Comedians can only make jokes at S.P.'s expense.

Except of course that Letterman didn't call A-Rod a child molester.

The moral of the story is don't use S.P.'s children's for punch lines if you don't want her to get attention.

The moral is that Palin will use her children to score political points over and over again, shamelessly and in ways that make no logical sense.

S.P. didn't call Letterman a child molester either.

You have it backwards. Libs criticize every conceivable aspect of S.P. and even her children are considered fair game for liberal comics. Where is this mythical scoreboard where S.P. is racking up "political points" when she isn't even running for any political office?

You would rather I say drum up controversy in order to get more attention? Make more money with higher ratings?

This wasn't an attack on her children. It simply wasn't. That you refuse to acknowledge such an obvious point says all there is to say about your position.

Ratings? Does S.P have a TV show?

This wasn't an attack on her children. It simply wasn't. That you refuse to acknowledge such an obvious point says all there is to say about your position.

Of course Letterman did indeed target S.P's kid(s) and Macfarlane used Trigg's Down Syndrome as a nexus to take a swipe at Palin. That you refuse to acknowledge such an obvious point says most of there is to say about your position. I'm sure there will be more to add.

What was your point, again?

Well, simply, Sarah Palin can't take a joke.

So the only reason that S.P. gets attention is because Trigg has Down Syndrome? S.P. has been the object of lib derision since McCain named her as his running mate. Even after McCain lost the election, and stepped down from the governorship, the libs wouldn't let it go. Why do you want to deny her 1st Amendment right to speak her peace after her family is targeted by liberal media types?

Complete and utter ad hom and strawman. Stop trying to turn this into a political thing. I have stated from post one, that this has nothing to do with her political stance.

In case you missed it, AFF already confirmed that the intent was to make fun of Palin in the "Family Guy" show. MacFarlane used the Down Syndrome nexus to insure viewers got the joke. You say S.P. is using Trigg's Down Syndrome for attention, how about MacFarlane exploiting it for his own need.

Again, I ask, where is the insult? There's a clear difference between "make fun" and "insult". The joke is a reference to Sarah Palin. I do not see any insult. Why the hell is she so insulted? What? She can't be mentioned as a reference?????

That's your opinion of the issue.

And your opinion of the issue is just that as well. Again, I've told, as well as a lot of others on this thread have told you, this has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICAL PARTIES. This is about a woman who can't take a joke and stands on the shoulders of her children to get attention.

He didn't know it was in bad taste before he said it? Why would S.P. want to go on Letterman to help him with his ratings? Right. Letterman only molests interns.

Lots of jokes ARE in bad taste. I told you why Sarah should've gone on. If she had made a reference that she doesn't want to boost his rating, she should have said so. She didn't she said that she didn't want her children with that man.

Seems like you're missing your rebuttal here.....

Letterman was joking. Palin was not. See the difference.

The moral of the story is don't use S.P.'s children's for punch lines if you don't want her to get attention. Because she's a person who can't take a simple joke, even if there is no insult in the joke. She'll come on television and use it to gain attention.

There. I completed it for you.

I'm sure she will be crushed to hear this.

If I was on television and I said this, I am absolutely sure she will be. By her own track record, she'll go on television and complain as much and as loudly as she can, trying to get more attention.

Hmm you know what just struck me. Sara Palin says she wants to keep her kids and family out of the media, but she does it using her daughter as a spokesman.

There is your hypocrisy right there.

Watch the episode again , Cicero.

Again? Apparently, Cicero is refering to some other show where the characters time travelled into the future - a future where adolescents with Down Syndrome are permitted to have, or perhaps, forced to have, sex change operations. :-)

I think we're seeing some trolling here. It's hard to imagine anyone who actually saw the episode supporting Palin's criticism of it. There was no indication that the story took place in the future or that the child was supposed to be Palin's. The line about the governor of Alaska was obviously just a throw-away topical reference. The song was obviously a satire of a common scene from many movie musicals. It makes fun of Stewie (and of Chris), not the girl.

And, the portrayal of the girl was refreshingly honest - and a bit of surprise to see on a show that usually seems to be written by a bunch of 14-year-olds. :-)

What, specifically, is the 'swipe'? Define it. Explain why it is insulting or an attack.

You can't, because it isn't an attack.

EDIT: Did you miss Palin being hired by Fox?

Sure. It was a tribute to S.P. and her kids.

EDIT: Did you miss Palin being hired by Fox?

Did you miss she was hired as a contributor. There isn't any S.P. show like O'Reilly's "The Factor," Van Susteren's "On The Record," Glenn Beck, Megan Kelly's "America Live," Neil Cavuto, Huckabee, etc.

She's a hypocrisy generator. I don't think she can do anything that doesn't result in a hypocrisy face palm.
1.) Lecture on Personal responsibility at Tea Party Convention (quits governorship)
2.) Insults Obama about Teleprompter (while having notes written on hand)
3.) Insults Obama for lecturing (while lecturing...)
4.) Lambastes Obama admin for calling democrats retards (while excusing Limbaugh of the same thing)
5.) Complains about pork Barrel Spending (While accepting money for road to nowhere)
6.) Claims she quit governor to keep family out of limelight (while using family continually as props).

Sure. It was a tribute to S.P. and her kids.

So it's has to be either an attack or a tribute? False dichotomy to the nth.

That doesn't actually argue against my point you know.

Well, simply, Sarah Palin can't take a joke.

By remaining silent, she can take a joke, but if she responds she can't? So she could take the joke about "The Family Guy" depicting her as a Nazi?

Complete and utter ad hom and strawman. Stop trying to turn this into a political thing. I have stated from post one, that this has nothing to do with her political stance.

You are being absurd. S.P. would be the target of obsessed libs if she were a liberal? The only problem people in this thread have with S.P. is that she has the bad taste to carry her Down Syndrome son around with her and that she calls out comics for using her family for their punch lines?

Again, I ask, where is the insult? There's a clear difference between "make fun" and "insult". The joke is a reference to Sarah Palin. I do not see any insult. Why the hell is she so insulted? What? She can't be mentioned as a reference?????

No, but I have been made fun of in school in front of a lot of people, considering I was extremely overweight during that time. I learned that when I didn't take it personally and went along with the joke, I felt better and people liked me more.

You don't care whether people are laughing at you or with you. OK. You do not take obese jokes/insults directed at you personally? OK. You never felt compelled to go on the offensive and offer any quips to your persecutors. OK. Your way of maintaining, or not maintaining, your self-respect, dignity, and honor was to pretend that these jokes were not personal. OK. And what you learned from this experience is that you refuse to give the benefit of the doubt to S.P. that she feels obliged to answer when her family is caught up in jokes/insults made by media types to get at S.P., and that because S.P. doesn't follow your personal prescription for handling endless "jokes," she is just being a poor sport without any sense of humor.

And your opinion of the issue is just that as well. Again, I've told, as well as a lot of others on this thread have told you, this has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICAL PARTIES. This is about a woman who can't take a joke and stands on the shoulders of her children to get attention.

If you believe this then you must have spent a lot of time looking under your pillow for Tooth Fairy coins.

The "jokes" made about your obesity were not in bad taste? Would the ones in bad taste be considered insults? Would you want Letterman around your children?

Seems like you're missing your rebuttal here.....

?

Letterman was joking. Palin was not. See the difference.

Do you really believe that Letterman's true opinions/beliefs are not at the heart of some of his "jokes?' What S.P. said was damn funny. If it gets a laugh, what is the difference?

There. I completed it for you.

If I was on television and I said this, I am absolutely sure she will be. By her own track record, she'll go on television and complain as much and as loudly as she can, trying to get more attention.

Where has S.P. ever bothered to negatively respond to anyone saying they "lost respect for her?" Besides, if you ever had a chance to get on TV and rant it would probably be about Southwest Airlines.
