Ought there be a "Slaughter Rule" in debunking?

Okay, I'm about ready to declare victory...

Very few new arguments have been introduced since then, and no truth movement champion has stepped up who isn't laughably incompetent like Richard Gage.

But while the truth movement hasn't gained appreciably in numbers, there are now many small organized groups that are good at drawing attention to themselves and spreading propaganda.

More importantly, the hundreds of truther websites have changed little and may stay online for years. Because of that ready-made online fantasy community of paranoia and stupidity, a newcomer to these issues need never be exposed to accurate information.

Over the past year I've been shortening the time in which I decide if someone is worth dealing with, and I feel good about that. I have lots of time for people who don't understand the issues. I have no time for people who want argue but who refuse to do their homework or to learn. I try to keep in mind that sometimes the score starts at 15-0.

Every time a new twoofer pops up and thinks that he has stumbled on some monumental truth, and thinks he is going to build a following, he needs to be put in his place before some poor schmuck comes along and sees his comments sitting in the public forum unchallenged and takes them for truth instead of twoof.

Exactly. There are always newbs to this kind of stuff. The woo perpetuates, therefore the smackdown of reality needs to stay with it to prevent or slow the spread of the infection.

I have stated that Griffin's flight from Mackey's paper makes the victory official. Note that every conspiracy liar who taken a crack at rationalizing his hero's craven retreat pretends that the issue has something to do with me. The loons are forced to pretend that Griffin refused my invitation to appear on 'Hardfire' because the truth--he agreed to an interview before the publication of Mackey's paper--simply cannot be faced.

The slaughter rule takes effect after 5 innings. I've been on both sides of it. I'm in the Chicago 16" engineers league, which plays on the beautiful Grant Park fields.
i play 12" in the south suburbs, for us we have 2 slaughter rules, i think its 10 runs before the 5th inning, 15 runs after

...i actually have an ASA rulebook in my car, i think ill go grab it on my lunch break....

I think his rejection of the debate goes deeper than that. I think he agreed before he had done enough reading, or enough research, to realize he was getting in over his head. Once he did so, he realized the debate would result in the illusion of his greatness within the community shattered (lost fame, lost income). He was smarter than Fetzer in this regard.

It amazes me that you have the patience to answer troother claims so thoroughly so many times, Gravy. Every time I think the false statements of one troother have been sufficiently discredited, another comes along with pretty much the same arguments...though every time I watch all of the qualified debunkers here present the facts...and pretty much debunk the same things over and over...I feel like I learn something new or see a piece of evidence I was unaware of before.
To all of the people who put in the time to do the research and to help fight paranoid foolishness, I say thanks.:)

Well said, that.

In football terms (Aussie) its akin to the Grand final this year. Sucked in Port.

In cricket, its no different to Australia against anyone hahaha

In soccer terms - its like watching full strength Man U v Fiji u15 National Squad.

[OT]Speaking of real football, today was a great day for CFL fans (like me). The Eastern final and Western final were both great. I am so looking forward to the Grey Cup game next Sunday. Saskatchewan Roughriders v. Winnipeg Bluebombers... go, Roughriders!

It depends on what team you're playing. Granted, if you're up against Von Kleist, Hufschmid, Haupt, Fetzer, Wood, etc, sure they don't have any good pitching and they rarely, if ever hit homers.

But on another team Jim Hoffman is the closer and he'll throw that wicked cutter, the WTC 7, which I haven't seen anyone touch.

Griffin's a solid fielder, known to make an error once in a while, but his scrappy play makes him a reliable fielder.

Alex Jones is all power hitter, either a home run or a strike out.

Steven Jones, the wily knuckleballer, you think it's easy to hit, but it proves elusive.

Paul Thompson, a steady and reliable fielder who hits for average.

And the bench is deep as well, role players like George Nelson, Stubblebine, Hicks and Tarpley.

Sigh.

Yes, except that they don't even hit singles. They're winless, hitless and chock full of fail, just like the movement to which they claim allegiance.

Hmm.

The only thing I can imagine Alex Jones doing is slamming the bat against the plate over and over again accusing it of being a FEMA plant.

The truther team remains task force short bus.
