Oscar Pistorius shoots girlfriend - Part 2

But not a clear pattern of murder. The one isn't a next stage in the other, necessarily.

It's entirely possible that he did know he was killing Steenkamp, but this wasn't established, and therefore I take the face-value case: he shot at what he thought was an intruder behind a door. That's still murder, and he should be punished properly.

I have no idea why you all rail at Masipa. She has brains to burn, and got the case exactly right.

People with high intelligence are as susceptible to emotionally based errors as anyone else.

Masipa blew the case, probably knows she did so, and is now doubling down to try and salvage her reputation.

Oscar's been memorialized in song and Uncle Arnold's not impressed:

Pistorius's uncle, Arnold Pistorius, told The Times that he had never heard of Die Antwoord.

"I do not move in those circles. Whatever they say, I do not care. I cannot say that what they are saying is 'die antwoord' [the answer] to this tragedy."

He said the only thing that he could say was that prosecutor Gerrie Nel had been successful in destroying Oscar Pistorius's reputation: "He succeeded in this through his lies."

On Pistorius's wellbeing after his alleged suicide attempts, Pistorius said: "I have not seen or spoken to Oscar in a while, but as you can imagine prison is not a holiday camp."

The video, by Die Antwoord (English translation is "the Answer) is called Banana Brain and depicts a few memorable moments in Oscar's life. For example, in one scene Ninja, the male singer, shoots a gun at a traffic light. It's not an out and out parody of Oscar but there are some nods thrown his way. The video can be seen at the link or on YouTube.

Relatives of the murderer are sticking up for him?

The hell you say.
Obviously he would never be charged with murder in a true gun totin' state of America.
You are making a total mockery of a good fact finding judge.

Your regard for Mapisa is amazing.

Stupid, beyond belief and blinkered. And utterly amazing.

I don't think so although if you get the right jury, you could get a not guilty verdict.

I believe we all agree on one binary choice.
Oscar was sure it was
1. Intruder
2. Reeva.

I suggest the penalty should be assessed totally differently according to which is in fact true.
Fear creates crime. American women only jails are jam packed with women who preempted actions against abusive men. Read Full Circle by Gloria Killian to see why so many end inside. This is relevant I promise you. I just finished reading that book, it reminded me strangely of OP.

And I suggest, for the umpteenth time, that you are wrong, and that who was behind the door is irrelevant. Both scenarios are murder.

I'm sorry I have to ask this, but are you his dad?

I am nobody.
Many women preempt their partners attacking them in America.
Read that book I cite.
What I am trying to point out is fear of violence begets violence.

And what we're trying to point out is that, by any definition, Oscar is a murderer. Further, his history suggests he is impulsive, quick to anger, has no regard for the law and shoots people.

I totally disagree. I think there is no definition of murderer that aligns with the Pistorius case.
But I am alone on this, I generally allow that I am defeated.

However, I would have no fear at all of being in a community where Pistorius enjoyed untramelled freedom.

Apart from the fact that what he actually admits to doing is described by SA law as murder?

Really? If I were his next door neighbor, I'd move.

Words don't matter.
Man's laughter for example.

Legal truths are sanctified by fools who are blended lawyers and clever dicks who become untouchable. Their instructions should be destination appeal denied and work backwards to sanctify the mendacity.
Let's expose them. I am doing so in the Lundy case, lambs to slaughter.

Sometimes, very rarely, but it does happen, sometimes, when one is the lone dissenting voice in a sea of consensus , one is the only person with the insight and thinking skills to see the truth.

Other times, not so much

I don't see dichotomies in ethics, but in science they are immutable.
Pistorius shot an intruder
Lundy was in Petone
Knox was in young love
Faria was playing cards
Avery was a patsie for the sherrif.

The list is endless but society gathers round the corrupt police prosecutors and appeal judges. They rest peacefully and their offspring have not the remotest idea how evil they are.
