Merged Osama bin Laden dead,

Hmm here's am interesting one. By not releasing pics the US is spreading uncertainty amoungst bin laden's sympathisers and they are not good at dealing with uncertainty.

You don't have to be sympathetic to OBL to want evidence of his death.

You would think that AL Qauda's declaration that Bin Laden is dead would convince Osamas fanboys. The images are bound to make their way into the public domain anyway, it's simply a matter of the U.S. not wishing to gloat about it by publishing the pics.

The "U.S." would love to gloat.

Statements on a forum? The Pentagon has arab speakers. Osama's fanboys are nothing if not paranoid but uncertainty doesn't fit in well with world view.

AP has filed a FOI request yes.

Supposedly, around here, one is skeptical about claims without evidence.

Recently there have been reports that Liz Taylor, Seve Ballesteros, Gunter Sachs, Arthur Laurents, Dana Wynter, Jackie Cooper, and other notables have died.

Just what is it you would like to see to accept these reports?

Cool doll, I'll send you one for Christmas!

Seriously though, you don't really think that a toy company represents the U.S. government do you? Or is this another conspiracy, the government secretly forcing toy makers to follow a hidden agenda?

Which other conspiracies are you referring to?

My "U.S." wasn't refering to the US government. I was assuming that your "U.S." was referring to the whole country, including the people who live there!

The doll is a cultural signifier indicating that there are people in the US who are indeed happy to gloat. Your enthusiasm for the doll suggests that you are too.

Did you thoroughly think your question through before posting it?

The U.S. government possesses the Dead Osama pics, not the whole country. They decided not to release them, presumably to avoid offending Muslims, part of that would be not appearing to gloat.

I, on the other hand, have no problem gloating. I don't wish to offend (non-radical) Muslims, but the ones I know agree with me that the guy was a monster, he would have murdered every infidel in the U.S. if he was able. Osama and his ilk represent a very small percentage of Muslims, most have no desire to kill infidels.

What makes you presume this?

So comforting to think of one's enemies as monsters. Did you know that the "U.S." is also widely regarded as a monster?

ETA: You failed to mention which other conspiracies you had in mind.

I am perfectly happy to gloat about whacking that piece of garbage. It is just too bad that he didn't suffer. A bullet to the stomach and slowly bleeding out would have been better.

I cannot believe this is a surprise to you. It's been in the news for months.

Here, LMGTFY

Here, let me read that for you.

From http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/04/world/africa/04uganda.html
January of 2010, not quite recent, but whatever.

Last March, three American evangelical Christians, whose teachings about “curing” homosexuals have been widely discredited in the United States, arrived here in Uganda’s capital to give a series of talks.
............

Now the three Americans are finding themselves on the defensive, saying they had no intention of helping stoke the kind of anger that could lead to what came next: a bill to impose a death sentence for homosexual behavior.

Does this say that a large group, or even an entire church? Nope. It says THREE. Not quite what biker said
american christians are being instrumental in pushing uganda's death penalty laws against queers.

Which emplies that a large group, or even a majority. When, in fact, it is three, and what they said was taken out of context.

And I don't see what you should find it suprising that I hadn't heard of this. I don't much care aout the politics of my own country, let alone another countries politics.

So because some in the Christian community are not as sick as these people, that's evidence the claim is false?

Yes, based on the fact that it is not a large group of them, nor is it any kind of major policy sweeping through the Christian churches. It is THREE people.

And it's disgusting.

Upon re-reading, I see your gripe is probably with the word, "average". Islamic terrorists are no more average than Christian fundies who think the death penalty for gay sex should be death. Perhaps both sides of this thread sidetrack should clarify their positions.

These are 3 people. Not 100. Do you typically judge a group of people based on the actions of a few?

I certainly hope you don't.

What makes you presume this?

The fact that the government (Meaning the big wigs in the White House, the State Department, and the CIA) havesaid exactly that.

But hey, don't let facts get in your way. They never have before....

OBL wasn't just an enemy of the US. He was an enemy to just about every country in the known world. Sure, some did not see him as that, but the vast majority did. Maybe not to Lybia, or maybe Somolia, but those two countries have been known to harbour terrorists. Somolia really has no functioning government to speak of.
