Oprah 2020

She is certainly eloquent, far better than Trump, she's also had a lot of life experience. The trouble is that she has no political experience.

Awwwww.....

Yes, she would be better than Trump. However, that gorilla who learned sign language would be better than Trump.

There's nothing wrong with the fact that we have a political class and cursus honorum in this country. Yes, you should hold a series of positions in government of ever increasing responsibility before become president of the United States. Hot tip, governing is hard and the only way you learn how to do it is to govern. Let's not repeat the mistake of Trump but having his democratic version run.

I've never been a fan of Ms. Winfrey, but I fail to understand what makes her unqualified to be President. She's smart, she's motivated, she's had significant organizational experience, and she has a wide network of influential friends and advisors, as well as a huge base of established supporters. She certainly has no political experience, but is that really a requirement for the President?

The President needs to be a diplomat, an advocate, an influencer, and a shaper of opinions. She needs to know how to surround herself with subject experts. Oprah has decades of experience at all of these things. And it certainly doesn't hurt that she seems to be genuinely interested in people and their problems.

Like I said, I've never been a fan, but if she's the nominee in 2020, she's got my vote.

That's nice. If she wants to enter politics (and from the sound of things, she does not), she can run for congress, or perhaps mayor of a city or town. "President" is not an appropriate entry point. I can both respect the fact that she's a self-made billionaire who created a highly successful business, and still recognize what her lane is.

(As for "experts", she did help out Dr. Phil and anti-vaxxer Jenny McCarthy...)

I'm not really on board with this.

No doubt she would be significantly more capable than Trump, but I can't bring myself to play any part in advancing an era of celebrity presidents.

She is a predatory old cow who has made a living understanding and milking middle aged women.

How skit we pick someone who has actual experience not a bag full of "but I like them" .

Better qualified than Trump, simply by being more sane, but has promoted way too much woo for my liking.

Seconded.

The campaign for President of the United States is not a game show. The President needs to represent all Americans and know how the machine works, not just campaign for votes and facebook likes.

Trump proved that it is a game show. It shouldn't be, but it is.

Even though I agree 100% both that Oprah should never in a million years be President and is a million times better than Trump.

But regardless of how unpopular Trump is now running another candidate who's sole quality is not being as bad as the incumbent is the absolute worst choice the Democrats can make, which is why they'll probably make it.

"The Devil You Know" is a strong force in politics.

Didn't Trump teach us that an inexperienced person is not a good pick for a President?

It's not Trump's lack of experience that makes him a horrible President. It's that he's a jerk and an idiot. I'm not enthusiastic about Oprah as a candidate but I would certainly vote for her against Trump. I can't really imagine anyone I wouldn't vote for against Trump. Im sure there is someone, but hardly anyone.

A career in entertainment can be a plus IMO. You can't teach charisma, so choosing someone who's already popular might make sense. George Clooney wouldn't be too hard on the eyes.

Sure- we all want someone deeply thoughtful, driven by logic, with deep experience in politics, a extraordinary knowledge of history and current events, and selfless, not just well spoken, energetic, convincing, dedicated, popular,, organized, successful, and electable.

Great- I'm on board. Just um- who are we talking about? Obama can't run again. Was there a name that people had in mind?
