Oprah 2020

Ivanka Trump seems to have gotten into trouble over Oprah's speech at the Golden Globes.

Ivanka Trump was met with a wave of criticism after she tweeted in support of Oprah Winfrey's impassioned speech at the Golden Globes awards.
...
Alyssa Milano, star of the US series Charmed and Who’s the Boss?, said on Tuesday Ivanka Trump should make a financial contribution to the Time’s Up campaign. "Great! You can make a lofty donation to the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund that is available to support your father's accusers".
...
Jennifer Rubin, author of the Right Turn blog in the Washington Post, described Ivanka Trump’s tweet as a “hypocritical, clueless statement”, citing the president’s support for Roy Moore...

Reminds me of when Melania tried to make Cyberbullying her pet project when she became first lady, not recognizing that Trump was probably the most visible cyberbully in the world.

Some people have just no clue.

It wasn't the right that railroaded Franken out of office.
Your exact statement was:
All the sputtering outrage about Franken came from the left.

Notice the word "all"? As in Every bit/everything?

Yet I pointed out references to republicans making statements about Franken and the scandals, pointing out that, no, not ALL of it came from the left. Some came from the right.

So you were wrong.

Pointing and laughing, and commenting on the situation, are not sputtering outrage. That particular response found its peak on the left, with the railroading of Franken out of office.

What narrative would you prefer? There was "sputtering outrage" across the spectrum, but the left led the vocal charge against Franken? Sure, I'll go along with that. Don't let my mild hyperbole get in the way of acknowledging the left's leadership on running Franken out of the Senate.

...to be fair, it could well be that Ivanka is fully aware that her father's a creep, but for various reasons feels unable to publicly blast him. After all, Dolt 45 has shown that he's perfectly willing to demolish the lives of his family if they annoy him too much, and the things he's said about her in public, along with those creepy pictures of the two together, still set off all kinds of alarm bells in my head.

And in any case, the fact that her father is an abusive pile of crap doesn't mean that she's wrong...

She wouldn't have to publically blast him. Just... leave the white house and disappear from the public arena. Claim that she just wants to dedicate more time to her family. The whole "I'm the woman/moderate voice in the white house" scenario she keeps playing out isn't working, and its just making her look bad, especially when time after time its shown to be false.

Neither was Obama, according to Donny. Not even a naturalised citizen like Rupert is. So Rupert being prez should be no problem.

Donald Trump doesn’t make decisions about who is eligible for presidency. Rupert Murdoch is not eligible, however, and that is only one of many reasons why he might not have run for president. You cannot use the fact that he is a media owner rather than president of the United States as conclusive proof that selling newspapers is more influential than being the POTUS.

Actually, I am a little bewildered by some of the awestruck tones in which Rupert Murdoch is spoken of, almost as if he were some supreme puppet master rather than just a useful person to keep onside. Is there any way of quantifying how influential he is?

"gotten into trouble"? Isn't it more of the same, with attacks from persons attacking her before, and ideologically committed to attacking her, whatever.

quite right!

At least we want an actor who once played the president.

You know, like Morgan Freeman .. or Dan Aykroyd.

Not Dan Aykroyd, my respect for the guy for making some of my favourite movies (and some great music) is immense, but he thinks Ghostbusters was a documentary.
