OK Max or anyone else. Can you guess this book?

Hi Ian,

Kinda rushed at the moment :(, but I don't want to miss guessing (yes, the -fun- of guessing. :) )

I see lots of green on the book jacket--kind of abstract, jungly, foliage-type design. I was thinking "Tarzan", lol. But instead I'm going to guess

Hudson, Green Mansions

I got it exactly right, didn't I, on the first try? :)

I know you stopped sending a couple of hours ago but you know what the London smog is like. Even thought waves can go astray ;)

My guess:- 'Life of Pi' by Yann Martel

STJ

I think it is a book about chess ;)

Actually, what came to mind was a Harry Potter like fantasy book.

Oddly enough...Rupert Sheldrake: The Sense of Being Stared At.

no sensory impressions--just that book popped into mind. Of course, that may be because I know Ian owns it...or was reading it at one point.

I am sorry ladies and gentlemen but I have a question. Mr. Ian rejected Garette's protocols to the other thread and like he started another thread with no protocols at all.

How do you participate in his game?

by naming a book ;)

Chill out Cleo :)

Ian, I know that I cannot persuade you but it's for your own interest and peace of mind to follow Garette's protocols or negotiate them. How can you take this tension you create?

edited from the winner of the language award. She had to post a word in English...

I sat and meditated for a while (I do do that, but I don't claim to be able to remote view) and tried to remote view.

I have no idea about the author or the title of the book, but I did 'sense' that the book has a black cover with someone on the front throwing a punch or about to, and that the basic jist of the novel is about fighting, perhaps boxing or karate tournaments???

BTW please feel free to make more guesses until that time. Even those who have already guessed are welcome to guess again. :)

Okay, I'll even make an effort to "feel" it rather than just making an arbitrary guess...

Ringworld Engineers by Larry Niven

The book is House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.

If it is not, it should be, darnit.

My 2nd gue..feeling:

I sense that the main character goes through a transformation (ie. becomes a different person),
A Russian name,
Some sort of gathering, maybe a small army,
Violent behaviour without motive,
Rebelling against the system.

---

Im hoping you've read this book, Ian or we could be waiting a while for confirmation.

Renata . . . . . . . . . Description is "Harry Potter like fantasy book".

Nyarlathotep . . . . .Book is "Children of Dune".

. . . . .Book is "Ringworld Engineers" by Larry Niven

slimshady2357 . . .Description is "ok, I get a feeling of science-fiction. But it's not by Heilein..... I see the cover as moslty black with a white title, it has a question word that begins with "W" in it (I get the feeling it's "Who", but it could be "Why" or "What")".

Undodog . . . . . . . .Description is "I get an orange circle, a prison,
an illness or feeling ill, that the novel is not set in present day.

. . . . . . . . Description is I sense that the main character goes through a transformation (ie. becomes a different person),
A Russian name,
Some sort of gathering, maybe a small army,
Violent behaviour without motive,
Rebelling against the system.

Darat . . . . . . . . . . .Description is . . . "Black (presumably colour of book or predominant colour) , crime, detective, family, three words in the title (or three significant words), sounds silly with the previous Max guess but I do get something like the “god Father” again – but it isn’t but has some link".

Lothian . . . . . . . . . Book is "Noddy gives a birthday party"

Lothian . . . . . . . . ."Description is "I get a strong feeling that this is a novel we are talking about. The book explores the highs and lows of a period in the life of the main character. The surface message in this book can be analysed at a much more complex level. Often misunderstood this book will in the years to come be looked on more favourable than it is now. It is a book one that people with a literary background would certainly know although others might not.
My chi tells me that on the back of the book we have tributes to the work itself. Again, on the inside I feel that there might be something about the author, a potted history perhaps. I see on the front cover the authors name and the book title (I get a strong feeling of 3-4 words in the title) The letter A stands out. I also get a sense of alliteration somewhere. I am seeing a greenish blue as a colour, The cover containing a oblique illustration. The illusion of a person/people prominent".

T'ai Chi . . . . . . . Description is "I did 'sense' that the book has a black cover with someone on the front throwing a punch or about to, and that the basic jist of the novel is about fighting, perhaps boxing or karate tournaments"???

Yahweh . . . . . . . Book is "Thunderball - A James Bond Novel".

Mercutio's choice disqualified for not naming a novel.

OK people. Did anyone actually get any feelings, or is everyone just guessing?

I'm way to late, but I did get the impression it was a Tom Clancy book and/or that the cover is red. I strongly suspect that I'm influenced by you mentioning Clancie in the original post, and the fact that I remember some Clancy book having a red cover, but non the less that is my guess (no pun intended).

I'm going to tell people in 6 hours 30 mins what the title is. No-ones anywhere near with the actual book guesses.

Should I give ya all a clue??

Well ok then, since you all insist.

Looks like I'm going to have to give a huge clue before you lot get it ;)

None of the main characters are human.

There ya go! :)
