I took pictures, and will shortly be adding them onto the Google Drive folder I linked to in the first post in this thread. Tomorrow when the first peeps will be arriving, we might want to go check it out. :)

About tomorrow, maybe we should set a time and place to meet? Tropicana lounge might work for that

Tom's Urban does sound promising.

Post here if you want to meet Tuesday evening, Sft. Tropicana lounge sounds like a good meeting place. I'll be arriving mid-afternoon so can meet anytime in the evening. Wonder when bumlet5 is arriving...

Anyone else will be there Tuesday evening who wants to get together? All are welcome! :) (Official TAMbassadorTM :D).

Back at the tropicana - also went to check out Rouge at the MGM - it seemed too small, and it was closed, so didn't bother with pictures. On the way to the Rouge though I spotted a bar called whiskey down, which looked ok, through not as much seating as in Tom's Urban. I'll add a few pictures.

The plan is late afternoon, but it depends on how things go. I will let you know when I get on the road.

Yes indeed - anyone coming in on Tuesday is certainly welcome to join in. Would 6 p.m be a good time to meet or should we make it later?

6pm sounds like a good time. We can hang around a bit and have a drink until more people show up. :).

During conference hours, or before the music starts, which is probably only in the evening, The Tropicana Lounge area should probably work. At night, whatever other place is chosen.

Between talks and lunches and stuff, in the daytime, the Lounge might be best case. Some of us might have to get back to the conference area pretty quickly, due to our volunteer schedules and who knows what else? I don't think daytime is good for leaving the hotel.

Evenings? Whatever works. There is nothing wrong with having more than one place to hang out at.

Thus far, we've been talking about meeting at the tropicana lounge at around 6 pm, with the thought that we'd hang around there a bit until people who want to meet up show up, and then do a pub crawl of a sort, to check out the places and hammer down the "Official" TAM pub. Everyone's welcome.

7 pm would be fine I think - If for some reason we're not there, then check this thread for updates. :)

As for the most probable location, I'd put my money on Tom's Urban at New York New York - see earlier posts.

My flight arrives tomorrow at 2:32pm, so if I factor in about 1.5 hours for any delays, taxis, hotel check-in etc., I can meet you at the reception desk or the lounge at 4:00pm. You look for the guy with the air cast, and I will look for the guy holding the sign that says "Free salmiakki samples".
 
Swordfish, can you ask hotel management if they would cancel the music during the conference? Point out to them that there are multiple dozens of people who would congregate and buys drinks until 2:00 am.

Which evening is the crawl to find the official bar?

We're planning the crawl for today - If all of us who are here by then can agree on what the best place would be, we can put up more pictures, plus directions to the place, and if nobody objects or can think of something better, then that's it.

I can try to talk with the hotel management - can't hurt. I'll let you know how that goes. :)
 
Asked the concierge about who to contact for finding out whether it's possible to cancel the live music, and apparently the hotel's entry entertainment manager is who I need to speak with.

Tried calling him through the hotel operator, and got the answering service. I'll try later tonight. I've got an international phone number so I'd rather not leave a number for him to call - not sure about the call costs. :boxedin:
