Offer to the Truth Movement: Let's Settle It

Well that's good because it never happened. It took the combined effort of 2 airliners plus the ensuing fires to do the job. I hope that clears it up for you.

... So why shouldn't people that do not have degrees in physics or architecture or structural engineering be able to understand how a 175 ton airliner could cause a 500,000 ton building to collapse straight down to the ground and why is the TONS of STEEL and TONS of CONCRETE on each level too much to ask?...

To what degree should they go in explaining this outside of the EXPERTS? Should they do a "9/11 For Dummies" version? Should they do a children's coloring book version of their report too?

How does a 20 gram bullet kill a 200 lb. man?

It does not take a degree in anything.

Why can you rest a bowling ball on your head and just be uncomfortable but if you drop it from 2 ft your in the emergency room.

All you need is a high school level understanding of the world around you.

I am not interested in these so called debates that go off on tangents arguing about words instead of focusing on accurate data about the problem.

Obviously you are not interested in debate, as you carefully avoiding Dr. Greening in this very thread. He addressed points you raised, but you took zero note of them and starting making claims based on personal incredulity.

I'm fairly sure he doesn't understand the counter arguments. I think he's presenting an argument he heard somewhere else (or for someone else).

The column size data was extracted from the NIST SAP2000 model and released based on a FOIA request. Lon Waters has published shapes and dimensions along with the original data which is available in spreadsheet format on that site. I was pretty surprised by the lowest columns being somewhat smaller that the ones above. There could be some mistake, but there are a few possible explanations.

The structure is different below grade in that there are no "open" floors as in the rest of the building. Thus there are extra columns spread out over the entire floor area. Also the floor height is 10' instead of 12' which raises the buckling strength because of the length factor so they could use slightly smaller members. It is also possible that the lowest columns were all of higher grade steel.

Thanks for the info on Lon Waters. It should be possible to calculate the weight of a one foot length of each type of core column section and add up the weights on every level. Is each length of core column section 36 feet long? Is there a table with the heights of every level of the building? This is the first I have heard that the basements were 10 feet instead of 12.

Why do people think that stupid analogy is intelligent?

Can a man stand in one place for 28 years without eating or drinking?

You are comparing a biological organism to an inanimate object.

The reference made is to momentum.

My response to Greening is #316. He has not responded since then. Aren't you keeping up to date?

Oh look - another 17 year old kid who watched Loose Change and is now cutting-and-pasting crap from a twoofer website.

Haven't seen that before

Now now.... you don't know he's as old as that.

That's in response to his post in #312? So where's the email you sent him? That is what he requested.

Also, since you bring up him being a Canadian chemist, are you going to tell everyone your expertise and prove it to the mods?

The NIST says this on their website:

www (dot) nist.gov/public_affairs/factsheet/nist_investigation_911.htm

Now Americans are dying in Iraq as a result of crap started on 9/11.

If the top portion of that building came straight down encountering and crushing everything below than it encountered TONS of STEEL and TONS of CONCRETE level by level. The EXPERTS should have noticed that.

WTF are you talking about? That airliner severed a large number of columns. Most buildings aren't designed to resist the loss of even a SINGLE column. The people on the lower floors were just lucky that the building was designed using fairly primitive engineering techniques and was thus redundant. Then of course there were the huge fires that erupted which had a negative effect on both the yield strength and the modulus of elasticity of the steel. But you probably don't have a clue as to what those mean, you haven't even figured out that structural steel all weighs the same amount regardless of grade.

And now you're wanting a report be dumbed down for people who don't have a clue about engineering? I'm sorry, it's not going to happen. There is no way we can draft a report that will give you a 5-year education in one sitting.

So now you're here, on this forum, wondering as to why the people who ran full-scale finite element models of the towers didn't notice that there was steel and concrete in the tower. Stop wasting our time. If you have something real to ask, do it.

When I was 17 years old I was filling out my application to MIT. I didn't get in but I got an interview.

That is what I find funny about this site. I have seen THREE threads about Loose Change. I don't give a damn about that crap. 911 MYSTERIES is much better.

This site is very helpful and explains most of what is in that movie.

The Doc may drop in to add a few words on this topic.
