Given how broadly fundies define terms like "satanism" and "atheism" I'm not sure it's always "made up." They just think they were. For instance, my born-again uncle claims he practiced "Satanism" when he went to one of those evil "secular" colleges back in the 70s.

What did he do? Did he sacrifice infants to the horned god? Drink the blood of virgins?

No, he smoked pot and played AD&D.

Yeah, but she claims she saw a satanic altar with REAL blood on it! Hard to explain that as simply conflating satanism with role playing games...

Ms. O'Donnell is just the comedy gift that keeps on giving. Brainster, I honestly feel sorry for you that she's on your side of the aisle. But then, we had Jim Traficant at one point :boggled:
 
Either way, fundies lap these I-was-sinner-until-I-found-JEEZus tales up like a alcoholic does spilt beer off a saloon floor. It won't turn off anyone who wasn't going to vote for her in the first place.

Like many who turn to politics, O'donnell is a control freak. First, she wanted to control everyone through witchcraft. Unable to make that work, she turned to religious indoctrination in a brazen attempt to eliminate masturbation, hoping to deprive the ugly and unpopular people of any fun at all. Once again frustrated, she turned to politics. And now, having won a primary, she and her control urges have become slightly troublesome. The evil giggle that bubbled up out of her after the primary result became final was precious, but I don't want to hear it again.

Contemporary Wicca (which I suppose is what she's talking about) is pretty damned benign.
Our kids are involved in the local Pagan community, which incorporates all sorts of such beliefs. They have Druids, Wicca, etc. Lapsed Catholics, almost to a man....
Nice folks, really.
 
I saw another PI clip where O'Donnell was on the same panel with James Van Praagh. She said he was a fake and compared how he makes a living from people's spiritual longing to how a pimp makes his money. I had a hard time disagreeing with her analysis. Score one for O'Donnell!
