Obama is a thin-skinned narcissist

Seven years ago, Obama stopped giving Fox News interviews for a short period of time.

You know what Bush did with journalists he didn't like, right?
Or what Trump is doing right now?

What Obama could, legally, do to negative reporting is considerable, but unlike his predecessor he doesn't.

Yes, I know. I'm merely repeating the arguments given: something that happened once, seven years ago.

I think I now have my answer to the question from the OP.

If I wasn't entirely clear, I'm satisfied that I understand on what some people, at least, have based the idea their ideas that Obama is a TSN. If people want to discuss the victim hood of conservatives on this board or how some posters only challenge conservative claims (even though that has been debunked already), you'll hear no more complaints about it from me.

Still prefer that picture that is quite frequently floated around --- that he attracts swarms of flies and has a rather unique and very strong aroma .It's got me paying close attention every time I watch him live .In fairness I have not found any evidence but maybe they spray big time beforehand . I think that a reporter should loose a few bluebottles and note where they head -- camera at the ready .

  1. Obama's "people" have applied grandiose embellishment to his administration.
  2. Has his own version of the Presidential seal.
  3. Set up Greek columns for his acceptance speech at the 2008 DNC.
  4. Thinks he can change people's thinking simply by speaking about his own personal history.
  5. Thinks he can end decades of strife in troubled regions by uttering platitudes.
  6. His speech has a high rate of personal pronouns.
In looking at this list I would say-

  1. Without knowing specifically how the administration has been embellished it's hard to respond, plus the fact the criticism does not seem directed at Obama personally but at his staff.
  2. The Greek columns were criticized at the time and by people in the Democratic Party, too. But again, I don't know whose decision the columns were, the news articles I read only said it was "a gift from the Obama campaign to the Convention."
  3. Anyone who knows much about Obama knows he's an optimist who believes in appealing to people's better nature but that's not the same as thinking he can change people's thinking by telling them about himself. Although he has appealed to inner city youth not to give up on their dreams using himself as an example of what's possible. I wouldn't agree that's evidence of narcissism though.
  4. This is just plain wrong. I read an interview Secretary of State John Kerry gave recently and he said Obama is a "tough sell" on the idea the United States can unilaterally "change history." Obama seems to believe that in many regions of the world there is a history that needs to play itself out and it is very difficult to resolve it any other way.
  5. I have no idea whether this is correct. I'd want to know more, about the sample size for one thing.

You missed the Presidential Seal item. I'm not sure what that is. Obama has a campaign logo that is round like the seal, but that's because his name begins with an O, not because it is a replacement for the Presidential Seal.

My personal favorites are the ones that begin with the word "Thinks".

I "Thinks" mind reading is a funny claim to be made on this forum.

Edit - to reduce likelihood of infraction.

You're right I did. Sorry. I didn't know anything about that but apparently this was a seal he used during the 2008 campaign and for which he was criticized. Severely criticized in some quarters. Has he continued to use it?

Again, do we know whose decision it was to use the seal? Was it Barack Obama's personal decision? That and the columns at the DNC do seem to open Obama to criticism, a tad presumptuous verging on arrogance, but there's other explanations as well. Inexperience might be one of them. I'm sorry but I don't see it as evidence he's narcissistic, at least not in any pathological sense.

Dr. Sam Vaknin also, by the way predicted a catastrophic ending for the "Obama regime." He's got four months and about three weeks to go.

Okay, so another thing he did once, this time eight years ago, and abandoned when it wasn't working. For a TSN, Obama is doing a great job of hiding it over the last seven years.

No, the 'seal' was for the campaign only, in spite of the echo chamber's loud insistence that it was part of some nefarious plan to permanently change the most holy of American symbols (well, the most holy at that specific moment, at least).

I read on conspiracy forums that he was going to change the armed forces oath of allegiance. It would be changed to give allegiance to Obama himself. Now, only a narcissist would do that. (If he ever actually intended to do it). (Which i don't believe he did. )

Evidence was presented. Evidence was questioned. Source of evidence was questioned. Discussion over? The only reply was moderated. Disappointing but totally unsurprising.

Ironically I asked one of the guys I know, a true conservative, whether he thought describing Obama as a TSN was accurate. His reply?
Wow, you're asking the wrong guy. I can't stand Barack Obama. I'd agree to anything negative. ;)

That's how we remain friends I guess, despite having very different views about things.

Obama can take it, and he can dish it out. He roasts people, and withstands a crapload of criticism. His skin is pretty thick. He doesn't respond to most negative things said about him or to him. Contrast this with Trump, who pulls out of debates because questions are "unfair", and responds to nearly every negative thing said about him by sending a tweet, or complaining/whining about it on Sunday morning.

There is no evidence of Obama being thin-skinned.

There is a difference between dismissing someone because you think you know more than everyone, and dismissing someone because you're the president and you have stuff to do. Literally all presidents have dismissed someone in this way, regardless of their knowledge wheelhouse or level. That's part of the job - and arguably part of any job with a leader/subservient relationship.

It's not evidence of narcissism.

Sometimes, when Trump is being particularly Trump-ish, I come back to this thread, randomly reread a few sections, and laugh.

Remember when Obama was so thin-skinned that he called the news fake because he didn't like how it portrayed him? Remember when he started his own "real news" videos as well?

You want thin-skinned? I'll give you thin-skinned. This is from a recent piece by Emily Nussbaum in The New Yorker:
In the fifth season of “The Apprentice,” Ivanka Trump chastises a contestant for bearing grudges. Trump cuts her off: “Who doesn’t! I do. Nobody takes things more personally than me. When somebody says something personal about me, I hate them for the rest of my life. It’s probably wrong, but I hate people.” He pauses. “Do you understand that? I hate ’em. . . . I never recover from it.” Link
