while I agree with his statement 100%, that freedom and tolerance must always trump extremism and irrational fear, I wish he had stayed out of this one.
I think NYC Mayor Bloomberg was doing a fine job articulating why this Mosque should be allowed to be built. Now its truly become a national issue, and many Americans have forgotten what America is all about.
I hope that Obama's next statement on this issue will show more sensitivity to the emotions of the family members, and perhaps suggest & maybe even host a meeting between the Cordoba folks and 9-11 family members.
Clearly, the Islamophobes want no new mosques anywhere in NYC or in the USA for that matter, the more rational folks can be reasoned with and have their fears and concerns calmed.
