Obama commutes Chelsea Manning sentence.

Anything leaked from Friday will be classed as 'fake news'.
Facebook is fighting fake news lol have you all seen the antibodies forming? Better get serious about studying psychology my friends or years from now you'll be crying in your sleep over doing nothing but initiating the backfire effect for years.

So, it's merely your opinion that he was mentally ill. I though I understood, but thanks for confirming it...
You haven't the slightest clue about this case and I have detailed knowledge of it.

Well, I think there's been very good reporting on this, and it's very, very clear that the Army was well aware of disciplinary problems, of violent acting out, of mental instability over a period of time. At one point, he had the bolt removed from his weapon because there was fear that he would harm himself or others. He attacked a superior officer with his fists. There was a very vigorous debate about whether he was qualified - that is, mentally stable enough - to serve overseas. And I got the impression that the Army just very much decided it needed intel analysts. And that overrode whatever concerns some within its ranks had expressed about whether he was fit to serve.

Do I even need to explain how ridiculous it is that everyone doesn't know this part of the story? Bolt removed from his weapon to prevent him from killing a fellow soldier and still trusted him with secrets cause they needed intel and we are going to *********** execute him. *********** ********.

The USA cleared itself. Do you think the rest of the world is impressed?
Sorry, I missed/forgot about this one. See I think the wordage here is very telling. The first sentence causes me to think that you don't believe that I a) have enough information to judge the rightness or wrongness of the actions or b) That I lack the mental capacity to do so. I guess we'll have more success if you just focus on why I am wrong about a. See, I think you are also maybe who *********** knows that you are sad there isn't a world government for the US to subject itself to? Who the **** wants that? Wait, are you going on public opinion of you and the people you hang out with? I don't get it.

Also, what if the "rest of the world" are just a bunch of hack intellectuals who don't even treat reading the news as an actually hard thing to do every day without just reinforcing your biases like daily exercise making yourself ignorant, like, maybe the US is doing the right thing but all of these disapproving people are just angry stuck up know nothings like can we have an argument of fact around here once in awhile?

Dude, I will not argue with you about anything.
I hope this is a compliment about how mostly right I am all of the time and if I believe something you know you're probably wrong. I feel that it is. And, I love you too dude! :)

A report from Catherine Herridge on the loss of life from what Mr Manning did.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...gainst-manning-commutation-official-says.html
This is a joke.

Defense officials told Fox News that Manning's actions accelerated the Arab Spring and might even have contributed to the rise of ISIS.
9/11 was caused by delusional people who thought that the US was SATAN and engaged in a war against Muslims in a SATANIC DUEL!!!! TRUE FACT!!!!!! Blamed the JEWS and cried about US support for Israel... that's our land! That's what it comes down to.

Two intelligence sources also confirmed that after certain Afghanistan reports were released in 2010, the Taliban “went on a killing spree,” taking out everyone who seemed to fit the description of individuals working with the U.S.
A Danish magazine published a cartoon of Mohammed and countless people were shot and stabbed and burned to death as a result.

Try harder stop wasting my time

One can be preemptively pardoned, no? Wasn't Nixon, for instance?

True, Ford pardoned Nixon as soon as he took office. But Assange has not been charged with a crime in the US yet, his allegations of criminal activity are in Sweden. So if Assange is charged with a crime in the US with Wikileaks stuff, Trump could step in and pardon him or grant him pardon him before he is charged in the US. But Trump has no power to pardon an offense that occurred in another Country. I should say "allegedly occurred". While Assange could be off the hook with the US, he may still be in trouble in Sweden.

I think Trump will pardon Assange and cite Obama's commutation of Manning as an example.

Seems right. I doubt Manning has a high chance of recidivism. I don't think any additional time will affect the deterrent rate. No reason to imprison someone then.

Recidivism? for doing the same thing, that's about at 0 - between the conviction, and the dishonorable discharge, she'll never be put in a position to do the same thing again, outside of something extraordinary happening.

And yes, this is different from Snowden's cowardly arse. I have little idea what went on in Manning's head, but I do know that she stuck around in the US and took the full brunt of the military code. There's a certain kind of bravery in doing that, even though it's clear that she was mentally questionable and easily manipulated - both signs that she should have never been given access to info in the first place*.

7 years, much of it in solitary, is enough.

*: This is not a knock against transgendered people, simply a note about Manning in particular. She should have never been given a clearance to begin with.

Libby wasn't pardoned.

Yep. That is actually important, historically. Cheney wanted Libby to be pardoned, Bush refused to grant it. It became a major point of conflict between the two during Bush's presidency.

These distinctions can be very important. Pay attention.
