Obama bribed Reverend Wright to shut up

No. You are making the affirmative claim.

Have you even tried to phone him?
The affirmative claim is that Klein fabricated the Wright interview, as well as the recording of it apparently.

The ball is in your court.

Ah, so it wasn't technically an interview according to him.

Really? :nope:

I know you've invested a lot into defending this schmuck, but are you really going to maintain that "I decline to be interviewed" constitutes an interview?

Come clean, now - you're just taking the piss, right?

Webster's defines it as "a meeting at which information is obtained (as by a reporter, television commentator, or pollster) from a person".

Even "all your questions are answered in my book" meets that criteria, doesn't it?

Does Klein's version of the conversation differ from Abunimah's?

Even the NYT book reviewer Janet Maslin, despite her contempt for Klein, accepts that Klein interviewed Wright and that Wright did in fact say those things:
Translation: any biographical subject has bitter ex-friends and associates. And if they feel snubbed enough, they will talk. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright asserted to Mr. Klein that during the last presidential election he was offered a bribe by the Obama camp, a payoff to stop speaking in public. Mr. Wright also says that even when Mr. Obama made this request directly, he would not cooperate. Among the reasons: he had speaking engagements scheduled, a family to support and college tuitions to pay.

Seriously folks, the denial here is over the top. Get a grip!

Cap and trade and Obamacare were Republican inventions. I'm not sure how any of these are liberal.

You forget how far to the right we are moving. Why Nixon going to china was an example of a blatant socialist trying to defect.

He shoots. HE SCORES!!!

If anyone ever gets to the bottom of why this should matter let me know.

Is it just me, or does it seem like this renewed focus on Wright by the right (nice pun there) just smacks of desperation on the part of the GOP/Tea Party?

If Romney et al want to talk about crazy religion, fine. Let's open up the broader public discussion to his Mormon beliefs and see how well that plays out :)

No, the affirmative claim is that it happened.

KoihimeNakamura is correct, WildCat. Asking someone to prove that Wright never said something is impossible. You know that. It's an archetypical prove a negative situation. The onus was on Klein, and anyone advocating his claim, to provide the evidence supporting the claim. Klein's previous actions did show professional integrity and did not provide him any benefit of the doubt. Evidence was especially needed in this instance.

Evidence that has now been provided.

Of course, it still doesn't guarantee that Obama had anything to do with it or that Klein didn't take the Wright's words completely out of context. Time will tell on that.

However, WildCat, you were committing a logical fallacy when you asked others to prove Klein wrong.

I second that... seriously! It will intrigue me especially if conservatives finally answer any question that has been fielded to them in this thread!
