Merged Obama Birth Certificate Released

So now can we expect requests for all presidential candidate long form birth certificates? I mean I know that we don't need to really worry, they only made it an issue because he's black. But to avoid the appearance of racism is this going to be a requirement for everyone?
 
If the birthers are tied to the GOP it makes the GOP look silly, thus to his advantage or did he really think it would gain enough traction to actually cost him politically?
 
Pretty sad that it's come to this. What a pathetic bunch the ruling class of the US has become.

CNN actually did about 30 minutes on this yesterday; there may have been more. They showed the certificate, the computer-generated certificate than now officially supplants the older ones, the newspaper article announcing the birth, (as well as talking to a newspaper man who said that the paper got this information from the hospitals, not the parents), and a number of other people as well.
All pretty much putting paid to the whole bit of nonsense unless of course one is a conspiracy theorist... Who will say the whole thing was put up by the CIA.
 
All of this only gives in to the whims of CTers, who can never be satisfied. It only feeds the beast, it doesn't kill it at all.

Trust me right now someone is putting together a website with something even more outlandish that will dominate our conversations for months. And we'll see plenty of links citing it as a source.
 
Am I the only one surprised by the timing? Would this not have been better politically for Obama to release say next year around the convention where the Republicans spend a year discrediting themselves with this nonsense and every republican candidate has to answer questions about it?
 
Political theory: the timing is perfect. Trump gets to crow that he forced Obama to do something that no one else has done. Builds Trump up in the GOP. Trump is an inherently weak candidate...business, political, flip flops, crazyness, lack of knowledge of issues. President would LOVE to run against someone like Trump.

My biggest fear is that crazyness and lack of knowledge is going to appeal to a whole lot of people...

I think it's sad that President Obama catered to this silliness, but even sadder that it is national headline news.

I still say there's no way Trump will ever get the GOP nomination--unless they're just giving up on the election this time around. (Do you get a higher draft pick or something is you lose in a landslide? ;))

Maybe Obama's strategists think Trump will actually run as an independent and siphon off some small portion of the lunatic fringe of Republican voters.
 
Some dweeb on the radio a little bit ago was claiming the certificate is fake because in the 60's, black people were called "negro", not "African", thus the stated race of Obama's father should have been "negro".

I think either way (Trump get nomination or runs as 3rd party candidate) President Obama will be the beneficiary of Trump going into the race.
