President Obama failed to release a statement or a proclamation recognizing the national observance of Easter Sunday, Christianity's most sacred holiday.

By comparison, the White House has released statements recognizing the observance of major Muslim holidays and released statements in 2010 on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha.

The White House also failed to release a statement marking Good Friday. However, they did release an eight-paragraph statement heralding Earth Day. Likewise, the president's weekend address mentioned neither Good Friday or Easter.

In fact, in a speech he gave recently, Obama went so far as to remove mention of Jesus from a sermon he quoted that was given by a military chaplain on Iwo Jima in 1945 (http://www.torenewamerica.com/obama-removes-jesus-from-easter-message ).

So are you Obamaphiles sure this guy's the Christian he claims to be?

I was never fully convinced that he was a Christian, and always left open the possibility that he was (worst case) a very liberal Christian, or (best case) an atheist who was merely paying lip service to Christianity due to the fact that an admitted atheist would never be elected to high office in such a backward country as this one.

Obama continued, "This magnificent grace, this expansive grace, this 'Amazing Grace' calls me to reflect. And it calls me to pray. It calls me to ask God for forgiveness for the times that I've not shown grace to others, those times that I've fallen short. It calls me to praise God for the gift of our son -- his Son and our Savior."

I wouldn't call myself an "Obamaphile", but I'm not particularly convinced he is overly Christian. He certainly isn't the crazy evangelical pseudo-Christian that conservatives go all gooey over.

I would say that having an Easter Prayer Breakfast and giving a speech on Jesus at said breakfast is considerably more time-intensive than issuing a "proclamation" which is something he could just assign to a staffer and then sign his name to.
