Obama and Jesus

Keep to the topic. The topic is not the other posters.

Well, this is true. It is also true that some posters have abandoned the thread without addressing or even acknowledging what I think are fair criticisms of the premise of this thread. I have to wonder if that isn't a tacit acknowledgment of the weakness of that premise.

In fact, in a speech he gave recently, Obama went so far as to remove mention of Jesus from a sermon he quoted that was given by a military chaplain on Iwo Jima in 1945 (http://www.torenewamerica.com/obama-removes-jesus-from-easter-message ).

So are you Obamaphiles sure this guy's the Christian he claims to be? :D

Several questions.

1) what's with the smiley face? Virtually every user on the internet uses that icon to indicate that he or she is joking. You use it on messages you consider deadly serious.

2) One does not have to be an Obamaphile to accept President Obama's Christianity. The evidence in favor of it is overwhelming. Do you doubt his Christianity? If so, what is he?

3) Are you even the tiniest bit angered or embarrassed that you fell for this fake story from a source you seem to rely on? Are you disappointed that Fox has sunk to this level?

Would a Moslem remove his prophet Jesus from a sermon?

What?

You think The One would mention Another One?

What does this have to do with Sarah Palin?

Awesome response! Way to ignore completely the information contradicting the OP in pretty much every response between the OP and yours!
You are a credit to your partisan hackery club.

Why, thank you dubiously kindly.

And since Obaby is on record as saying he channels God in his public speeches, I can't see where he would think he needs to mention another profiteer.

Narcissic is as narcissic does...

I think you are confusing President Obama with the previous occupant of the White House.

of late, many have, many of the progressive left of the HopeyChangy Religion, have found themselves mired in this confusion, but not I.

Nope. You are just confused about the confusion, which you had, and now have, and would like us to share with you.

Thanks but no thanks. You got a bridge to nowhere there.

:D

You've quite a stash of your own, to judge by the first sentnce in the quote above. You still need to source your claim that it was Obama rather than the Shrub who claims to channel God. Don't make us post a link here to embarrass you.

WOW! It seems you can channel BaC.
:D

Perhaps you'd like to show us where any other president issued a proclamation recognizing Easter, BAC?

Here's the official list of all of them.

Feel free to take your time.

I hate it when someone says, "Oh, Obama did this or didn't do that...", and an astute observer, quite correctly, points out that either no one else has either, or that George Bush or Ronald Reagan did likewise, or some such foolishness, just to justify what Obama has or has not done. This never satisfies his critics, so there is no point in doing so. Enough already!! Obama is our president now, he does what he does, period.

Ironicly, Obama is getting criticised for conducting himself according to both the Constitution and the Bible.

He is not beating the drum for his chosen faith. The onlly time he seems to mention religion in public is at times when there have been attempts to stifle one faith or another, or to remind people that some of their fellow citizens are goig to be acting a bit differently and that we need to accomodate them to the extent that it does not hinder work or endanger public safety.

As much as Islam has come under attack in the last ten years, it seems to me quite appropriate to remind people that these people fasting and praying at what seem to the rest of us to be strange times are also citizens and neighbors whose rights we are to defend as our own.

Ahh, but there is a point to doing it. It highlights the partisanship of the claims. As a part of a well-rounded rebuttal to the original claim, it clearly serves a purpose.

Whether it silences the critics or not is beside the point. Look at the critics with regards to the birth certificate before and after it was released. Evidence contradicting the false claims has yet to silence Obama's critics. It's almost like they just don't like Obama because of his race or something, I dunno.

President Obama said that? Can I get a citation?
Sure....here's one transcript.

GG: What are you doing when you feel the most centered, the most aligned spiritually?

OBAMA: I think I already described it. It's when I'm being true to myself. And that can happen in me making a speech.....

Briefly, this transcript does have some insight into the subject, and various people would take differing things away from it. I'd comment that it's not a Christianity that is described by Obama as Christianity, but a sort of post modern feel good spirituality-in-everything-I-see-and-do. And you can tell, he's playing politician....

For example, he takes whatever things he thinks highly of, and ascribes spirituality to them. One really weird one is "the civil rights movement".

So...you are one of those RACERS, eh?

I'm glad I'm not one of them.

But tell us more. How often do these feelings come over you? Are they controllable most of the time?

;)
