Kilik, why did Hitler's name need to be kept secret hundreds of years before his birth?

Not that I believe any of this claptrap, but mention of Hitler at the time couldn't possibly have bothered anyone.

It wasn't a hoax. If I remember right it was written by a guy doing a thesis on Nostradamus and he made up a quatrain to show what kind of vague links could be made to historical events. And he wrote it before 9-11.
 
Really? It was the one that got emailed to me after 911, was quoted in newspapers (The Daily Mail, I think) and talked about on internet forums. I remember the "two brothers" bit quite clearly.

"In the new city, angle of forty degrees" is from Nosty. Maybe someone did a cut and paste, but I honestly don't think it's the same one that people got all excited about after the attacks. (Besides, "new city, angle of forty degrees" was already taken by Three Mile Island. Tell 911 to get its own quatrain.)

And, as Kilik has already shown, doing a cut and paste job on quatrains to remove material that would distract you is a perfectly acceptable method to better understand how Nostradamus thought.
 
There are two versions of the 9/11 quatrain going around. One is the fake Ersby mentions, the other VI 97 (Jansson):

Cinq & quarante degrez ciel bruslera,
Feu approcher de la grand cité neuve.
Instant grand flamme esparse sautera,
Quand on voudra des Normans faire preuve.

The two have also been mixed up with a few verses of one and a few of the other, as I seem to remember Penn & Teller did, though I'd be grateful if someone with the DVDs could be kind enough to check this for me.
 
I recall reading, quite some time ago, an article that asserted, quite convincingly, that Nostradamus "prophesies" were in fact nothing more than satirical attacks on various political and other public figures of his day; and were couched in the vague, convoluted language in order to maintain a level of "plausible deniability" and avoid potentially lethal reprisals, should one of them recognize himself and take offense. I can't find the article now, but I do recall that Randi's book was recommended reading.
 
But it’s obvious, really. Write up 942 vague four-line predictions, be sure to include plenty about war and pestilence, great leaders and armies rising and falling, natural disasters and the like, cover all known nations on Earth, use confusing symbolism, be as ambiguous as possible, wait 500 years, and many of your predictions will seem to have come true.

Also, there can be all sorts of reasons for symbology, numerolgy, or astrology to be incoded with a prophecy. The standards and laws of "reality" you are using, are incorrect and don't even really exist, especially not in the same way here as on a level where someone can see some things of the future.
 
Perhaps Kilik you could quote a prediction that is to come true soon,and then we have something to discuss.Retro fitting predictons to events doesnt work.

So, folks, here´s the reason why all unfullfilled prophecies are not utterly flawed...

They were not wrong, you see? Our "laws of reality" are incorrect and don´t even exist...
 
Kilik is actually correct when he says that Cayce didn't talk about the end of the world in 1999.




Cayce's last "end of the world" prediction was for 1998 instead. :D

February 26th, if I remember correctly. A new pole should arrive on this date and. Considering how the Earth is still in one piece and orbiting the sun (two things that would be changed with a new pole), I think it's safe to say we still only have our usual two poles. And despite Eddie's ramblings, they've never switched around either.
 
No, it just meant astrologically for the past 2000 years was the age of Pisces. 2001 it became the Age of Aquarius.

I'm putting together an Edgar Cayce thread in the future. There are Changes coming to mankind and the earth though, and Cayce predicted tons of things no one could know back then....

However, I should more take into consideration what types of things people here are focused on, and how they think, when it comes to discussing Edgar Cayce's prophetic skills when I make the thread.

This sort of cuts to the heart of the matter. Why couldn't Nostradamus or any of his myriads of credulous followers make any useful predictions that would help us avoid tragedy? Why did he "code" it so that it could only be understood after the fact? They didn't know about the tsunami, the destruction of New Orleans, the assassination in Lebanon or anything. Each of these things could have been mitigated by information from a reliable source.

But let's give Kilek a chance.

Okay, Kilek, based on your knowledge of the wisdom of Nostradamus, tell us specifically the most important thing (or one of the most important things) that will happen in 2006. Real prophets predict things in advance. "Interpreters" of Nostradamus seem to lack this skill.

hmmmm...2006...I am not a big studier of Nostradamus, it would indeed be harder to understand before it happened. I know a bit more Cayce, but am still limited. Okay, 2006, I'm not sure what exactly will happen, I'd have to really read more Nostradamus from the 1999 starting point and see where that takes me and see if it goes to 2006. Probably more disasters adn even earth changes are coming. My prediction for sometime before 2015, well I'll put that limit on it, though it's always possible to go to 2016. I doubt it will go that long even though. 2012 was the predestined date though things have changed slightly

We will see at least a billion, at the least killed worldwide in our lives, and not as senior citizens. I made a thread on "Signs of the coming Great Purification", and it talks about the death coming, but also check out the Neil Young part, and the parts about Sakyamuni and Jesus
 
I have a general idea. But I'm not sure if I know exact specifics how they will really come out
 
Possibly, though I might put together a general prophecy thread with Cayce but many more things too. Maybe an ultimate general prophecy thread

For now, I have enough active threads. Maybe tomorrow or the next day
