Nostradamus Centuries X

No, it is definitely in-depth writing meant to expand your thinking. It is multifaceted, and meant to be understood in an expansive way, with profound far reaching implications and meanings
What, precisely, are the "far reaching implications and meanings" to which you refer?

Some things in the first post are still to come...
You mean there's more?

Or it might just be nice poetry, y'know?

(I still find it odd that for all the things Nostradamus has supposedly predicted, they all seem to be in hindsight; his actual future-telling ability seems a little shabby. Wasn't the world supposed to end in 1999 or something? Did I miss that?)

So basically, then, your entire bit about needing to take into account the multi-faceted messages, deep meanings, and specific words, is pretty much bullflop.
Can we say bullflop?

Probably 1999 in the Islamic calendar...

No, nobody that I am aware of predicted the end of the world in 1999. Not Nostradamus, not Edgar Cayce, no one I know of.

Perhaps 1999 is the lead in, the cusp of the beginning of the end, but it definitely won't happen all in one day

It may be poetic to a degree, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's "only" poetic

Actually, I believe Nostradamus did "predict" it. Inexplicably, though, Nostradamians have decided to forget about that particular "prediction."

Something about a guy in a blue turban, if I recall correctly.

It may be poetic to a degree, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's "only" poetic

And it doesn't mean it's a blueprint for the future of civilization.

My aunt Fanny did. I suspect she was wrong. She also did it in plain english without using anagrams or deep hidden meanings.

And you know this how?

Doesn't mean that it is not only poetic either.

I cant be bothered to go through all his links, but has Kilik mentioned Nostradamus's 9-11 prediction yet? You know the one.;)

The 911 prophecy I heard was a hoax. I beleive is was a hoax quatrain made by mixing the lines of many different quatrians.

There might be prophecies about 2001 and beyond, but the most famous Nostradamus prediction was on 1999.

Though, many Nostradmus students and fans seemed to know a terrorist was coming from the middle east around that time, years before it happened

No, I don't speak mideival french, probably not many do. I have a basic knowledge of french though I can't speak it very wel or fluently. However, I go by the commonly accepted translations in their most pure form.

I doubt that. No one with an ounce of sense would translate 'Angolmois' as 'Mongol' given that the word didn't exist.

Here's another one, where you are again stretching it (Jean Jansson, Amsterdam, 1668):

X 55
Les mal'heureuses nopces celebreront
En grande joye mais la fin mal'heureuse:
Mary & mere nore desdaigneront
Le Phybe mort, & nore plus pitieuse.

Excuse me? 'Nore' suddenly becomes 'daughter-in-law'? A daughter-in-law is a 'belle fille'. Please.

Most sources use a simlar translation to that.

It was translated before any of the events that are correlated to it happened

Did they? How do you know? Where did they state this. Why are all future prophecies from Old Mother Shipton through Nostradamus and recentley The Bible Code(although the actual text predates the two former examples,it wasnt published until recent)all predict things via hidden meanings and silly poems? Why not just say it like it is?

The original true writings have to be coded and made symbolic when taught in society because it wasn't the right time and conditions weren't exactly right for people to know everything

Very convienient.

For wisdom such as this, you get the dog.

Terrorists have been "coming from the middle east" for more than 30 years. I did not need Mostradamus or anyone else to predict one more.

How's this for a prediction: sometime in the next two years a Hollywood couple will call it quits because of infidelity on the set of a major motion picture?

I get this from my translation of:

X 55
Les mal'heureuses nopces celebreront
En grande joye mais la fin mal'heureuse:
Mary & mere nore desdaigneront
Le Phybe mort, & nore plus pitieuse.

X 55
The famously nippled celebrity
Overjoyed with the famous nipples:
Dumped the strutting fool
Shagging the days babe.
