Enjoying your Orwelling life in the free West? What about the brave people in Libya fighting to have a fraction of the freedom you enjoy? They are requesting help.


There are legitimate reasons for the West to not get involved, but that Quackdaffi somehow has a right to implement a true Orwell -- as in "Imagine a boot stepping on a human face -- forever" -- isn't one of them.

Sometimes I think JJ is a robot. There's the word "airstrike" posted somewhere, and automatically it posts links to anti-war websites and videos.

Because sometimes airstrikes can be a good thing, like in this case, where international forces try to protect Libyans against their dictator. .

But JJ seems to see any military intervention as evil US imperialism in the works. <snip>. Now it's placing itself in defense of the Qhaddafi regime.

My understanding is that US warships are parked off Libya and are launching missiles striking around Tripoli taking out air defenses. The plan seems to be to remove the ability to shoot down allied aircraft. I read that the plan includes no ground forces... strictly aircraft assaults and Navy missiles.

Well, I've read that that fighter jet was pro-Gaddafi Libyan Air Force and was shot down by rebels at Begazi. There are photos of it going down in flames with the pilot ejecting.
 
If somebody comes off as Anti Western, the idiot Revolutionary Wannabes in the West will support them.

Phase 1 seems to be specifically targeting Libyan air defenses which would be radar and anti-aircraft facilities. I would speculate that Phase 2 might be to target the ability to put any Libyan Air Force into the air at all. Once the Libyan airspace is fully safe for allied aircraft then there is nothing much Gaddafi can do of any scale.

There are still some bits of the french empire left so this can't reasonable be classified as a last gasp.
