Merged New telepathy test: which number did I write ?

Wait...is Michel trying to convince us that he can send information telepathically to us?

He also assigns his own "reliability score" to any guesses and finds reasons to retroactively discard the "wrong" guesses. Even when no one has guessed his actual target number, he will intuit his number. So a guess of 3 may look like the real target 2, or joking guess of 42 (beyond the range he has mandated) may be interpreted as including the actual target of 2 (I made up these examples). I think that he is very sincere in his beliefs and he doesn't typically accept suggestions to consult with medical professionals either to confirm his ability or to control it better.

I would like to help him. But I honestly don't know how to help. Attempts by others on the thread to question his tests or his beliefs, to treat them humorously, to take the test to "show" him that he doesn't broadcast his thoughts, etc. don't seem to help him either question his beliefs (he usually considers the tests a success) or to deter him from periodically returning to try the test again.

I should also mention that he appears to be very smart and trained in physics, if I recall correctly. As any smart person, he will become justifiably upset if someone questions his view of reality and I believe that he had prior bad experiences with doctors. Based on my own experiences, I do think that medicine has advanced a great deal since then, and that whatever he choses to continue to believe about his abilities, there are professionals and other people who can help him control them so that they don't disturb as much as he has sometimes indicated that they do.

Telepathy test: which number did I write?

Hi, I invite you to participate in a simple telepathy test.

At about 5:00 p.m. on this Tuesday January 12 (Brussels, Belgium time), I wrote carefully one of the four numbers: "1", "2", "3", "4" on my sheet of paper, and I surrounded it with a circle. Then, I wrote it again twice.

I shall repeat this number (which was obtained using a random number generator) from time to time during this test and I ask you to write it here (if you think you know it, even with a doubt). You may also answer "I don't know". It might perhaps be useful also that you say how confident you are in your answer.

I also ask you (and I hope I am not asking for too much here)
- to say where you are (for example: "I am in New York", or "I am in London"; this may be important to me, because I want to study correlations between telepathy and distance), and
- to let me know what you think about the statement that I (Michel from near Brussels) have a tendency to communicate my thoughts extra-sensorially.

Thank you for participating.

Not
This
Again!

If anyone hasn't painful enough memories of the last time we did this, look here for an identical thread.

What is this nonsense doing in the Science sub-forum?

Yes, again.

Why?

Your previous tests have failed, yet you have twisted and manipulated the results to fit the conclusion you wanted to get, and you undoubtedly will do so again this time.

And to anyone tempted to play who isn't already familiar with Michel's "tests", no matter what you respond he'll make it fit his belief that he is in fact telepathic.

ETA: And even if your post is clearly sarcastic, he won't get it...

Poor old moderators are facing an avalanche of reports. I, too, have asked for it to be merged, or at least relocated. I strongly urge anyone tempted to reply to read the old thread first. You'll surely change your mind.

A dump in AAH would suit the repetition of this nonsense quite nicely.

Now that I think of it (and I reported it too), I tend to agree. Surely Michel's crap tests are turning into spam after all the repetition.

Clever!

I conjecture that you are not really trying to test telepathy. What you are interested in is the fraction of people who will write 'I don't know'.

The percentage of responses which state 'I don't know' provides some information on the willingness of posters to display their ignorance publicly.

I am absolutely sure that, 'I don't know!' I don't have the slightest idea of what number you wrote. I am ignorant and I don't mind who knows it! Etc., etc.
