... Yes, certain people may lie (some people may have a very different view of Obama's birthplace than others), but when almost all other people from different backgrounds have the same view, and it it wildly different from your own, you should seriously consider that they are right and you are wrong and seek help.
Don't you think that members of a "skeptical" forum could be strongly biased towards denial of a certain "paranormal" phenomenon?

No, In fact their the most honestly excited about it. Finding out a new and unknown mechanism of reality would be amazing.

Thing is, We want proof/evidence and unlike the woo woo forums we don't retire to the fainting couches at every instance of orbs in pictures.

The only bias here is the bias towards truth.

Are you really sure you want to deem reliable the "3" given in the first answer, when its author says himself/herself that "this is a completely random choice"? (other members, do you agree?)

Michel -

Do you realize that this is exactly what Bruto predicted you would do? He gave a higher rating to the first answer, knowing that you were greatly predisposed to disliking the first answer. And you then deem his answer unsatisfactory.

Please ask your family for help.

I found his answer unsatisfactory for a number of reasons, that I spelled out in great detail, and which are unrelated to the fact that I "don't like it" (it is not a "matter of taste"). Unfortunately, I made two errors in that post. I typed:
There seems to be an internal contradiction in this sentences: on the hand, they are "crackpots" (bad)...
when I should have typed:
There seems to be an internal contradiction in this sentence: on the one hand, they are "crackpots" (bad)...
As a moderator, could you fix that for me? I reported my own post about four hours ago, and mentioned the errors, but no correction seems to have been made so far.

Nope. They are among the most likely to want the truth. Which is presumably the reason you came here. If you thought differently, you would have gone elsewhere.

Your tests have yielded evidence that you have no telepathic ability. If you remain uncertain as to your abilities, and if your beliefs make you unhappy, seek professions to at least rule out problems that can be helped.

I have given myself the explanation that it was a vivid dream that I mistook for a actual memory.

Given the structure of the brain and everything we ask our brains to do, it would be surprising if false memories (and merely distorted memories) were NOT a common phenomenon.

(I did not say: "Well, I don't like your answer, so I can only say it is bad").

After reading 1800 posts, I am completely convinced that if we found ten random people to sign up on this board and you ran your little game with them. And their responses were nothing but single digits, you would find a way to segregate the correct answers into the credible category and the incorrect answers into the not-credible category.

I don't know how you would justify it. Perhaps by saying you are suspicious the date/time stamp of certain posts or perhaps by saying you don't trust the number of vowels in a poster's name or perhaps by selecting every third response and then claiming some absurd justification for that pattern. You will always find a justification to discard answers you don't like while placing emphasis on answers you do like.

.............
Skeptical check:
I could be complete wrong in this post. If anyone (other than Michel) has evidence that I have spoken out of turn, then I will retract the post in its entirety.

Have you ever had nostalgia about a game, tv show, movie, book, or something? You thought it was a truly amazing work of art, a classic that should resonate through time, but when you read, listened to, or played it again, it was actually awful?

Quite common.

Well, I am not a child, I am a 56 years old adult. I have already talked about my impressions of telepathy several times with my mother. In 1991, she told me that "people could read in my thoughts, but that I should behave as if this phenomenon did not exist". A few years later, she said that she retracted what she had said. And now, she's saying that she never said such things. She has also applied pressure several times to have me take anti-psychotic "medications". It's not clear what she could do to stop the mysterious voices who tell me to kill myself, who ask me when I am going to kill myself and so on...
Perhaps she doesn't want to stop them, it's possible that she enjoys them, and that she secretly hopes that I will finally be assassinated by the voices (like you perhaps). She once said "these people are mean" (about the voices), but that was a long time ago.
Now , what about the little errors in post 1853, that I mentioned in previous posts? Could you correct them, or do you think "the more errors in Michel H's posts, the better, and it is not even necessary to answer"? Are you here to help, or just to merge threads which should not be merged, ignore simple requests for help, tell lies, and make various personal attacks? Yes, I remember you've been in jail (read in your profile) ;)

Yes, I remember you've been in jail (read in your profile) ;)

Here's what my profile says: Been to jail but rolled two fours and got out.

So, do you honestly believe that I've been to jail? If so, do you also believe that I got out by rolling two fours? If you believe the first half of my sentence but not the second half, what is your reasoning?

Isn't it more likely that I was making a joke about the board game Monopoly? In that game, one can roll doubles to get off of the "jail" space.

As regards your feelings of persecution about your mother, I am quite sure that she wants very much for you to be well. You should tell her today that you're ready to accept help.

To be fair to Michel, I'd sooner take the word of a convicted felon over that of a Monopoly fan.

Ah, so it was apparently a joke related to Monopoly. I didn't find that one obvious, I wonder how many people have misunderstood (and there is a large inmate population in the US). And how about going really to jail? Well, just kidding of course. I don't think speaking to my mother again to hear angry lies again, and that I should take anti-psychotic "medications" would help me unfortunately. Psychiatric drugs have already damaged my brain in the past (epilepsy), without solving anything (or much).

I think it's necessary to take into account the fact that some subjects might lie, or might really not know the number, and the words that are said might give precious (and even perhaps indispensable) clues about that. Remember, this is a psychology experiment, and, in a psychology experiment, you better take psychological factors into consideration. If you all agree that one (numerical) answer definitely seems more credible than the other (without knowing the correct number that the researcher viewed, of course), this could therefore be of great interest, I think. If you (members of this forum) don't know the correct number, you can't be biased.

This whole line of thinking is nuts. You've been trying to sugar-coat it with a thin veneer of rationality for years, but it's crazy talk.

Ah, so it was apparently a joke related to Monopoly. I didn't find that one obvious

This is your basic problem. In this example, and many others on this thread, you have not even been capable of understanding what was being said regardless of how "obvious" it was to everybody except you. Let that sink in for a minute. Everybody except you know what others mean on this thread when they post. You still think that you are the only one in step.

But, from having so little understanding of the spoken word or the context in which it was spoken, you still claim to be able to discern "sincere" answers from "insincere" answers. Just think this through.

I can understand the reluctance to take medications, especially when they often have unwanted side effects, but many schizophrenics have got relief from common symptoms (including hearing unfriendly voices) with the right medication, though I know it can often take a good deal of trial and error to find the right combination for each individual patient.

It seems telling that in the "Monopoly" issue, even the explanation is met with the response that "apparently" this is so.

I get the impression that everything anyone says is evaluated for credibility to a degree that is, quite simply, crazy.

What's the useful difference in credibility between -7 and -9?

Nobody who disagrees with certain premises, and no answer that disagrees with certain predictions, will ever succeed.

Messages from the real world are not getting through. The tether has broken.

It may happen that I fail to understand a few things. In this case, you are welcome to explain what I did not understand (like Loss Leader did), or to correct some errors I may have made. Generally speaking, I like to learn new things, and to have errors corrected. However, after the telepathy tests I did on this forum, I carefully read your reactions, and I didn't feel I had to alter my conclusions.

Now, I would like to entertain you a little with a very funny and sarcastic post. Since most of you are familiar with the Anglosphere culture, I am sure most will quickly discern all the irony in it. During one of my telepathy tests, Loss Leader answered:
I am seeing a 4 very clearly. It's almost as though I had written it myself.
Funny isn't it?

But wait, was it really a joke?

Michel - wouldn't you like to feel safe and secure in the world? Wouldn't you like to feel like nobody is lying to you? Wouldn't it be great if nobody were trying to hurt you or trying to get you to hurt yourself?

You can have all of that. All you have to do is ask your family for help.
