This part, eh. Its not a bad idea IMO to have people familiar with the law, making laws. Maybe there are too many lawyers up there. I don't know what a good percentage would be, 25%?
1. If it was really vital that Congress have lots of lawyers in it, there'd be an even higher percentage elected.
2. As I said, elected representatives don't draft the laws. Their hired pens draft the laws and then they argue about them. Detailed knowledge of the law is available to an elected official whether s/he went to law school or puts "some college" on job applications.

Another point.

Flight or fight reaction. She was stopped from fleeing. What did she do to fight back? Scratch his face? What was she doing with her hands?

You really don't have a ******* clue, do you. Victims of assault make judgements as to what they are capable of and what their attacker is capable of, and then use that information in judging what actions are in their best interests. Rape victims can often be very passive because they know that a struggle could see them beaten to a pulp or killed.

Kavanaugh's new opening statement:

I was not at the party described by Dr. Ford” “This confirmation process has become a disgrace” “Advise and consent has been replaced with search and destroy”

So wait, are there too many lawyers in congress or too few?
Too many. My point there was that if it was really important that representatives go to law school, the percentage would be even higher.

And here's another thing: If these people were actually good lawyers - especially ones with the connections to win elections - they'd make a ton more [legitimate] money not being in Congress. So, not only are there too many lawyers in Congress but they're probably relatively lousy lawyers to boot.

And now this dude comes out frothing, accusing and threatening. His ass is grass.

[ETA] oh and blaming Clinton, anyone else catch that?

I wanted to type something to that effect but thought my efforts would be wasted. Thanks for wasting your time in my stead.

Politically and practically, it would be smarter for Kav to just deny the allegations, express sympathy for Dr. Ford, and shut up. For him to claim that his family has been "destroyed" by Democrats seeking revenge is a tad over the top. Not quite the judicial temperament that many would like to see.

Well, less than a majority of them.

ooooohhh.
Are you upset that the majority party can't get a simple vote together?
Is it the nasty minority party without any power to stop them that is being mean?

Face it, Republicans have all the power and don't know what to do with it. They were much happier when they were in the opposition under Obama.
Less responsibility.

Not necessarily. It would just be significantly higher than non-lawyers. After all they're still democratically elected.

Well, no argument there.

Hit the point that the other girl that Ford said was there said she denied any memory of it and denied meeting Kavanaugh.
