New Iraqi flag!

. actually many arabs beleive that the 2 stripes of the israeli flag refer to 2 rivers as well: the nile and the ufrates, which means israelis dreams of talking over all these lands between these two rivers.

This merely proves that many Arabs are idiots, or, more likely, that many Arabs are so brainwashed by their government's state-controlled antisemitic propaganda that they can't tell the truth from silly fiction. The real reason for the two stripes is simple: the israeli flag's design was taken from the talis (jewish pryer shawl), which traditionally has stars of david and blue (or black) stripes. It has no connection whatsoever to any rivers at all.

It was not, in fact, even the original design of the flag: Herzel's own design--seven golden stars of david on a white background--was rejected. Since he was the founder of modern zionism and yet his own design had nothing to do with any blue stripes or rivers, I suggest the Arabs find another conspiracy theory.

anothe symbol that might be annoying them is the yellow stripe between the two rivers as if you're saying the kurds control the land between the two rivers...

You know those guys in the airports that will tell you "the truth" about how everything is a conspiracy by "satanists", or blacks, or catholics, or jews, or Masons, or the Queen of England (LaRouche's favorite bogeyman), or the FBI, or the UN, or whatever--and that that can be "proven" by analyzing the US flag, or the back of the dollar bill, or the back of interstate highway signs, or the seal of the United States, etc.?

Well, imagine ENTIRE NATIONS being brought up, from age 0, on exactly those kind of conspiracy theories, which are drilled into them repeatedly by the state controlled television, papers, plays, radio, school textbooks, etc., etc., etc.--and you'll get some idea on what the paranoid, topsy-turvey worldview of many Arabs is like.

No wonder many Arabs automatically discover "real reason" for everything--including stripes on a flag--is "proof" of some the usual trio of evildoers, namely, everything is "proof" of an evil jewish-American-local enemy (Kurds, in this case) conspiracy, the three working in unison to destroy the proud Arab nation of X. They had years of training in that sort of thinking, until it became second nature.

Are you surpised they didnt like the flag?? The blue color has no traditional ties to iraq.

For whatever reasons they dont get along with Isreal. Thats a fact. Im sure the Isrealies would be just as upset with a new Isreali flag that had a creasent to represent the muslim minority.

What the hell is the council doing wasting its time. How many more feux paus can they make. The Iraqis allready think they are puppets.

This isn't "not liking" the flag. It's claiming the flag reveals an evil zionist conspiracy.

Are they wrong on the conspiracy part?

Not zionist, but Im thinking western influance. Do you think the blue was just random?? Were talking a flag here. Everything is symbolic! I think theres US influence. They want Iraq to become a modle of the new friendlier mid east. So start off with dumping the tradional red white green that the other arab troublemakers use.

Are they wrong on the conspiracy part?

No, of course not. EVERYTHING is an evil conspiracy, you know.

Conspiracies dont have to be evil.

The articles never do explaine why so much blue is used.

Tony Words that you are perverting.

Originally posted by Hutch said:

Thank you Hutch (my fellow Alabamian).

Okay Tony. Please explain to me how I can pervert your words by using your entire post with no changes whatsoever! Or is is perhaps that, after some reflection, you realize how stupid they are and do not wish them repeated at the bottom of all my posts? Now that I can understand, but I suspect you will not admit this.

The idea of colors being "Jewish" notwithstanding, I think it would look better if the crescent were red. Putting cyan and blue in the same flag just doesn't look right to me.

Yes it was stupid, but I was making a semi-joke. I didn't expect YOU to be such a bedwetter about it, I guess my respect for you was unfounded.

And I agree, it was hilarious! So much so that I wanted to use it for a sig. You're the one being anal about it. I already said I wouldn't use it without your permission. But now that we've talked it to death, I'll let it drop.

No one has yet explained the BLUE creasent!! Its a BUsh admin CONSPIRACY.

Because you tried to spin it as racism and xenophobia.
I can't "spin it" if I use the whole, exact quote. The racism and xenophobia are right there. Maybe, as you now claim, you put them in as a joke, but it sounded pretty much like your usual stuff to me. Also, you didn't use a smilie.

By the way, did you ask Jon in London's permission before using his comments in your sig line?

There is absolutly no racism and/or xenophobia, as I demonstrated. You were/are just trying to spin it like there was.

but it sounded pretty much like your usual stuff to me.

And that would be....??

Also, you didn't use a smilie.

Because the comment was made in a half joking/half serious manner, as I've already said.

By the way, did you ask Jon in London's permission before using his comments in your sig line?

I took his quoting of me first as permission that I could quote him (i've actually been meaning to remove that, i've just been lazy).
