New Iraqi flag!

I agree, the middle east is the most racist and xenophobic place in the world. Must be why our austrailian stooges love muslims so much.
LOL! This is classic Tony. In two sentences you manage to complain about racism and xenophobia, and immediately show yourself to be a textbook case of a racist xenophobe. Mind if I use this in my sig line?

You're a treat, Tony.

How do you figure? I said nothing that indicates I feel white people are superior and I said nothing that indicates I fear foreign cultures.

Whats wrong with the current flag? I assumed it predated Saddam. Except the writing part. Where did I hear that from.

Oh and on somthing semi related to this thread: I recently went to the Holocaust memorial museam in DC. I got to thinking "DAMN! Them A-rabs cant hold a candle to the Euros when it comes to hating the jews!"

Next time you come to DC give us DC skeptics a head's up....there may be a free beer in it for ya! (yes, even for you) ;)

And you can't even see it! Well take my word for it, Tony, everyone else can. I haven't seen such a self-defining statement since my father said "Every time you turn around some damn n*gger is yelling 'racist' about something."

So, can I use it or not?

LOL then "everyone" else must be as delusional as you. You made the claim, it's up to you to support it. But the argument ad populum is noted.

So, can I use it or not?

No. Your intentions are dishonest.

Okay. How about where you suggest that it is wrong to love Muslims? Or where Austrailians (sic) are called "stooges". Insulting other cultures is a trademark of xenophobia.

What difference does it make what my intentions are? They are your words. I would use them verbatim, even including the spelling and capitalization errors if you like. Actually, I don't have to ask because it is part of the public record here. Many posters use embarrassing statements by others to humiliate them, but since I am such a nice guy (and honest too!) I won't do it without your permission. Pity though.

Free beer??? Damn you found my weakness!!! Im sure it comes wh a free shot of aresnic too! :p

I get down to DC now and then. Saw the soon to be open WW2 memorial. BUt the best part this time was a little trip to the overlooked DEA Museum!!!!! THe section dedicated to the evils of pot had me laughing.

Back to the Flag. ARe people surpised theres so much resistance? Its a radical change. Shoot, southerners get all in a tizzy when they want to remove the treasonist/racist rebel coat from the state flags.

Uh huh, and how does that indicate that I feel white people are superior (racism)?

Or where Austrailians (sic) are called "stooges".

I said OUR austrailian stooges. Like the three stooges. Like Mr. Manifesto, The Fool, and AUP, who also happen to be austrailian. Duh!

Insulting other cultures is a trademark of xenophobia.

Perhaps, but it is my freedom and in no way indicates I fear said cultures, which is what xenophobia is. Do you automatically assume that everyone with a towel on their head (a trademark of islam) is a muslim?

Just because someone shares a trait with a xenophobe doesn't mean they are a xenophobe, as an allegedly rational thinker, you should know this.

What difference does it make what my intentions are? They are your words.

Words that you are perverting.

Seriously though,...let me know next time and I'll give you the best tour....the Jazz bars on U street....the National Geographic museum....Mount Vernon (I'm a member this year...so I can bring up to 3 guests free)....the old C&O canal tow path if you're an outdoorsy type....Hell, I'll even take you to J Edgar Hoovers bizarre headstone so's you can hock a loogie on it! ;)

it is not strange that iraqis didn't like the flag with the 2 stripes refering to the 2 rivers. actually many arabs beleive that the 2 stripes of the israeli flag refer to 2 rivers as well: the nile and the ufrates, which means israelis dreams of talking over all these lands between these two rivers. anothe symbol that might be annoying them is the yellow stripe between the two rivers as if you're saying the kurds control the land between the two rivers, maybe it was not designed to mean it this way but it does creat a great deal of confusion.

Oh boy, I hope Tricky doesn't get mad at me for getting here first!! Tony, I worked in the Middle East. One of my clerks was Indian and Muslim. Prayed five times a day and went to Mosque every Friday. Pretty wife and two adorable kids. AND NOT A TOWEL TOO BE SEEN ON HIS HEAD IN 4 YEARS. Maybe not xenophobic--but dumb, dumb, dumb...:hit:

And the trait are you claiming to share with xenos? ;)

Well,....Ah, no, gotta leave something for Tricky.

Yah ain't stupid Tony, I've read too many of your posts to believe that, but this time you engaged keyboard before you put your brain in gear. IMHO of course.

That's merely a nitpick, my point still stands. Just because two things share a trait doesn't mean they are the same thing.

The new flag is on the ugly side if you ask me.

What do the 2 blue stripes stand for in the Israeli flag?

So, was there any strong feeling that the flag needed major changes or was this one of those ideas that a bored subcommittee comes up with.

You know how many entries they had for the nationwide contest?

30!!!!!! 3-0!!!!

Iraq is screwed.

This one would be appropriate

I suggest you save it for your psychiatrist. It doesn't say nearly as much about Iraq as it does about your personality flaws. :p

What I find interesting is that the flag no longer bears the words "God is great".. A lot of Iraqis aren't crazy about that change, especially since it was strongly pushed by the US.

I find it ironic and hypocritical that the US is going through paroxysms of religious patriotism in trying to keep "In God We Trust" on the money and "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, yet they want other countries to remove religious references from their symbols.

Yeah, just not that God. :D They should have whatever they want on their flag, so long as it doesn't depict something with a fuse...
