New England Skeptics Get-Together?

If I didn't post this, we'd be well underway for a solid plan. But, as you can see, I did post this.

My biggest concern is that it's a bit far for some of us. It's four hours from me (due to lack of east-west roads in northern NE) and I think Boo and our NY contingent are also a bit far out also.

When I look at the map of where everyone lives, Larry and Kitty live pretty near to the center of the distribution. Take a look at http://www.frappr.com/teamjref and you'll see what I mean.

My personal opinion is that the location for said event should have easy access to route 91, as that's the road seems to connect us all. Probably at the tri-state border.

And Mother's Day..is there a reason to choose a difficult weekend?

Sorry to be such a downer. I like the idea of us all being in ME eating bugs, but it's difficult. I'm happy to be overruled as well.

Jeff

Also, I forgot to say..

YoPappa..the FSM, unretouched, fetched $65 at auction. :)

Thanks! And thanks to Kitty for dontating it.

I still think coming to your house and eating all your food and messing up your bathrooms and skiing would be fun.

That weekend might be hard for those of us with famlies expecting to be pampered by our children (or else, or else I get to spend the day filling them with guilt).

Would another weekend be ok? Or is the distance still a bit much?

LARRY!!!!!

we could cook lobsters in the sauna. We could tell the lobsters that they were at a spa and they would have no clue they were about to DIE DIE DIE

The date is the only date we can be relatively sure that Tanja can make it.
Tanja, as Merc pointed out is coming from the greatest distance but on that weekend she will be in Durham NH and able to join us on Sunday very easily.
Perhaps we could get lucky and she could join us the weekend before (5/6 or 5/7) at some other location but my superhuman powers tell me that would be a stretch.

well we could have a get together with Tanja and something else also. It would be nice to have something for Tanja.

we should ask Tanja. She might have a hankering to see the ocean from this side. or that might be the wedding!

I am really grateful that you are all considering me. I probably could make it the weekend before, but then I have the whole week in between to fill in! What do I do for a week in New Hampshire? Anyone wants to adopt me for a week?

seriously, Larry's is cool. We can see what is happening in Keene (anything good coming up at the Colonial Larry?) Then there is Boston and hippy Brattleboro Vermont. Larry's is very cool too. He built his home himself, in the woods! Sure it's mostly large refrigerator boxes, but the old plastic grocery bags he covered them with keeps it pretty dry.

Do you want to see small town or big town (which mean Boston). The Basketball hall of fame? (well, maybe not).

If you crash at Larry's I can come down and take you out some (and you could crash a night or two here in Kittens room.

Hmmm....if only there were a forum member in Durham itself...

(I will run it by the family--small house, though, so don't get your hopes up.)

Keene is fun, google it. And rent "Jumanji" parts of it were filmed there (the outdoors cute town part being crushed by African mammals).

Brattleboro is where all the hippies went to die. It's still groovy.

Winchedon has "pesky critter removal".

New Hampshire has a lot of interesting places to see and things to do, although I rather prefer the northern part- fewer people and far more rugged (Mt. Washington- World's worst weather!). Vermont is beautiful- New Hampshire turned upsidedown but with different politics. And then there's Mass, but Tanja needs to know it's filled with all kinds of reminders of that little 18th century rebellion against those pesky Britts.

We could fish tea out of the harbor for her. We owe the Brits some tea....

OK. Now I am looking into flying into Boston on, say, Thursday the 4th May, so that i am over most of my jetlag on Friday, stay the weekend with you guys, then going to NY by train e.g. on Monday the 8th, staying there during the week, returning to Boston on Friday the 12th and staying in Durham for the wedding, returning to London from Boston on Sunday evening. Therefore I am happy with the meeting to be on the weekend of 6th and 7th of May.
