While it's sports related, it could generate an interesting political discussion.

"The lighter the car, the faster it goes," Gordon said. "Do the math. Put her in the car at her weight, then put me or Tony Stewart in the car at 200 pounds and our car is at least 100 pounds heavier.

Gordon has also announced he will also not be a jockey in the remaining triple crown race due to similar "advantages" of the other jockeys. He refused comment when asked about a rumor he was boycotting trying out as a munchkin in a special NASCAR production of the Wizard Oz

so why isn't Mark Martin winning every NASCAR race?

losers....

and let's see, the darker the skin, the faster the car goes?

so that's why there aren't any black drivers!

Pool Boy just commented, "well then there should be ALL women racers." duh duh duh duh....

What advantage? She's a woman - she'll have to stop several times to ask for directions!

I don't get it. If weight matters that much then you think there'd be a handicapping system in place already. Either that or lighter male drivers would already be the in high demand. Surely there must already be 50 lbs or more of variation in the pool of male drivers. If the heaviest man is 200 lbs and the lightest man is 150 lbs then the difference between the heaviest man and the lightest man is the same as between the lightest man and this 100 lb woman.

I don't know the details of auto racing but I can imagine how it might be possible that having a lighter driver is an advantage. But if that's the case I would have thought that edge would have manifested itself in some other way amongst male drivers already.

By this logic, wouldn't all the top jockeys in the world be women.

Robby Gordon isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. If he sits out a race because of what he perceives as an injustice, good riddance.

Someone has a penis size issue about being beaten buy a GURL!

Too freaking bad..get over it. If you're SO scared of her that you sit out the race..well...I think that speaks for itself...

Must be hard to do your make-up in the rear-view mirror while wearing a helmet too...

It's NASCAR.

I mean...It's NASCAR.

What do you want--maturity, sophistication, and understanding? It's NASCAR!

LOL!

:D :D :D :D :D

I think everyone has forgotten the Suthin base of the male Bush supporters. NASCAR dads!

I think the complaint was a valid one, and I think there should be a maximum weight requirement. Wonder how soon after this fat A$$ would shut his mouth? That alone might put an end to the ceremonial victory banquet of bisquits, gravy and grits!

someone mentioned that they thought NASCAR had a weight balance thing. A lighter driver had to take on more weight.

It's NOT A SPORT. I remember one race (yes, Pool Boy will catch a race every now and again) where they changed the rules...I mean they really changed the rules because the race was being called early. Instead of going with what the "rule" book said they decided to make a little more competitive...

I was like, "huh?"

It's a business far more than any football team.

And this still doesn't expalin the lack of color. Was it Chris Rock that commented all you had to do was watch "Cops" to see that blacks knew how to drive fast?

According to the pre-race show, the Borg-Warner trophy that goes to the winner is actually bigger than she is!

The trophy is 5' 4" tall and weighs 110 lbs, while she is 5' 0" tall and weighs 100 lbs.

One thing Robby Gordon doesn't seem to mention is how the whole sport of racing is inherently unequal from the start.
It would be incredibly naive to think that driver talent is the sole determining factor in who wins.

It's all about money. The more money you have, the better team you field, and the better car you have.

This is a sport, that by it's nature, doesn't have a level playing field.

Ribbie Gordon is an idiot and the worst kind of race car driver: dangerous.

IRL has a minimum weight on the cars only, other series do include the driver. Being light is an advantage for sure, just like being tall is an advantage in the NBA. If IRL adopted a driver included minimum weight she would still get more ballast to place anywhere she wanted.

If you think a lighter driver has an advantage, lose some weight!

I think the unspoken reason is nobody wants to be the guy who clips her bumper and kills her. Its one thing for these nascar drivers with their southern conservative values to participate in a sport in which they may die or cause others to die. Its another for them to face the reality of killing a woman.

I think that would have been a big deal in the past. But as with women in combat, I think we are getting used to it. Sure the first woman killed will be a big deal, but after that, people will get used to it.

I remember my step sister was asked about women in combat once. She said, "Geez, I guess that was why Hitler told Poland before he invaded. He didn't want any women in combat. Women have always been in combat. Now we just get to carry guns!"

She's been in Afghanistan. Yeah, she's supposed to avoid combat situations. Good thing the Afghani rebels are such bad shots~!

Killing the engine in the pits probably cost her the race. Women always have a hard time driving manual transmissions. Maybe they should design her an Indy car with an automatic transmission? :p
