Name the New Pope Thread

The wikipedia article for him is "Pope Francis I" which is a little presumptuous if you ask me!

According to Time, this gentleman described a same-sex marriage bill in Argentina thusly: "This is no mere legislative bill. It is a move by the father of lies to confuse and deceive the children of God."

As far as an actual prediction.......something that signals a change. That would mean either John XXIV, or something that hasn't been used in the last two centuries.

Francis was a name I thought of as a name that could be used, but hadn't been used, but I thought if he were going for something completely new I was a little bit more inclined to go with Mark or Matthew.


(ETA: And nothing about his hame conjures anything about Peter the Roman.)

There is other, more probabable reason why there may not be a future pope who would assume the papal name Francis II - a decision that would append the current pope's name to Francis I:

Well, it appears that Our Dear Father in the Heavens doesn't have enough money to continue his experiment with speaking mammals: he just spoke through the new pope mentioning "end of world."

We better analyze this. There are 9 words and the significant part is in the middle: oooOOOooo. That means 3-3-3 and we must therefore focus on the last 3 popes:

John Paul 2
Benedict 16
Francis 1

Since the New Testament supports concatenation (scriptum continuum), the ordinal (not ordained) numbers are concatenated forming 2161 which is obviously the year where our old world ends. But this is common knowledge that on October 11, 2161 this will happen:

There's progressive, and then there's non-Catholic. You aren't going to see any Pope, ever, embrace same sex marriage.

It's conceivable that as the church shrinks, they might retreat completely away from secular political involvement entirely.



On the subject of this thread, I must say I've been disappointed in how many news outlets published stories with headlines that said the new Pope would be called Francis I. I would think they would know better.

(Just in case anyone isn't clear on that subject, the first ruler to take a name isn't known as "the First" until a subsequent ruler takes the name. The sovereign of Britain in the 19th century was not Victoria I. She was just Victoria. The sovereign of Britain in the 16th century was knows as Queen Elizabeth until the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. At that point, the former Queen became Queen Elizabeth I. Calling him Francis I would be a bit like calling someone John Smith Sr. before he had children.)

He's there to sort out the Bureaucracy, because that's the biggest problem facing the catholic church in the 21st century.
