My Second Telepathy Test

You each win the gift of laughter like in that Star Trek episode with Q. I am channeling it to you now.
We haven't got Star Trek out here yet. It's on Foxtel due to be released next year. At this time they are showing a great series about some zany redheaded woman (we can't tell if she really is - we only have greyscale TV at this time) who gets into all sorts of trouble packing chocolates in factory. It's a great show!

Also there's some guy called Phil Silvers who is doing a documentary about the US Army. No wonder they are having trouble in the Middle East if all they are doing is setting up card games!

Not to worry. There's a documentary coming on how the army contracts its training out to the Police Department in Keystone.

In other words: 5 9 2 1 9

My confidence level is 0.001%

I should win something, because my outcome was consistent with my confidence level.

Confidence levels were disregarded in favor of a -10 to +10 aggressiveness scale. I found your answer to be passive-aggressive.

IT WAS A JOKE.
A joke, really? I think you may be a better parapsychologist and telepath than you think. I explain.
You used the number 3 2 5 6 9 (you wrote it yourself that way, bolded).
The last number moderator zooterkin gave was:
...
32008
The only answer that sounded serious in your test, is moderator jsfisher's one:
Am I too late? I wanted to put in 32579. I was sensing that fairly strongly.
This answer was given (24 hours) after you closed your test, but (6 hours) before I revealed my own target number (and you started your test about 2 hours after I launched mine); jsfisher was the only moderator who participated in my test.

Now the question is: Why did three moderators (here I include you) give 5-digit numbers starting with 32? (this may of course give an impression of success in your test).
And the answer to this question is almost obvious to me. The first digit (3) may have been given because it was my target number. And the second number might simply mean "Michel H" (i.e. me), because I was born on a 22 February (22/2)). In other words, the numbers posted by the three moderators zooterkin, Loss Leader and jsfisher may simply mean "3 - Michel H (followed by other numbers)", or "Michel H's number is 3". One may note also that the last four digits of your number (2 5 6 9) are in increasing order; this seems to suggest that you created this number yourself, instead of using a random number generator.

Tiktaalik's only post in my latest test has a similar structure:
Just to clarify:
1) I am not a he.
2) The statement about '4' was a (subtle, I agree) joke based on the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything is 42. I only 'got' part of it...
3) I do not work for 'the police'.

So, your telepathy seems to be unable to:
1) determine what sex a person is
2) determine when someone is joking
3) determine what occupation someone is in
Here, one sees that number 3 appears twice. This may have been also a way to suggest (without saying it clearly) that the correct answer in my test was a 3. Tiktaalik has (like you) a history of 100% hit rate in my test.

My sarcasm-o-meter is malfunctioning. This quoted post is a joke, right?

Michel, in the other thread post #2090 and others that you would wilfully purloin non answers into hits and here you are doing that very thing in a completely different thread, no less. What does that tell you? Because it tells me that whatever ails you leads you to engage in predictable behaviours in an attempt to shore up the delusion that you are in possession of non-existant telepathic power.

abaddon, it seems that the words "I said" (or something like that) are missing in your text:
Michel, in the other thread post (,) #2090 and others (,I said) that you would...
I am afraid this is not very good for your credibility.
If you disagree, try to be a little more specific, try to present more than very general super-aggressive and hyper-contemptuous statements, repeated many times (that same remark is valid for other posters as well). You may also ask questions, if you don't understand something.

Not to worry. There's a documentary coming on how the army contracts its training out to the Police Department in Keystone.
There's a new one due out next week about some US Navy guys on PT boats during the recent Pacific War. I think it's supposed to be funny. It stars some chap named Ernest somethingorother. Kennedy??

Sigh.

The only answer that sounded serious in your test, is moderator jsfisher's one:

I didn't ask for serious answers. In fact, in my OP I expressly said that anything other than a 5 digit number would be disregarded.

Also, jsfisher's answer came AFTER I posted the target number. So, he saw the target number before making his guess. In fact, two people pretended to guess the number after I posted it. It is impossible to call an answer "serious" that comes after the target number is revealed. It's doubly impossible to call that the only serious answer.

This answer was given (24 hours) after you closed your test, but (6 hours) before I revealed my own target number (and you started your test about 2 hours after I launched mine); jsfisher was the only moderator who participated in my test.

Moderators have no special claim to power, seriousness, rationality, skepticism or anything else. All we have is the ability to enforce the Membership Agreement.

Now the question is: Why did three moderators (here I include you) give 5-digit numbers starting with 32? (this may of course give an impression of success in your test).

The answer is easy. I gave the number because it was generated by a random number generator on the internet.

Jsfisher's answer was written after seeing the target number as a post-diction joke, as was one other person's. The funny thing is that, even after seeing the number, jsfisher still got it wrong. Norman Alexander at least took the time to double check.

Zooterkin posted several guesses, all of which failed to qualify because he wrote 6 or more digits and/or letters. His one 5-digit guess was the word BOOZE upside-down.

And the answer to this question is almost obvious to me. The first digit (3) may have been given because it was my target number. And the second number might simply mean "Michel H" (i.e. me), because I was born on a 22 February (22/2)). No. You can't do this sort of analysis after the fact. At no point did you say you were transmitting your birthday. At no point did you say that your birthday would be considered a hit. At no point did you say you'd consider answers given in another thread.

So, we have to ask ourselves: What is the difference between you retro-fitting numbers to call them hits and actual hits? There is none. We cannot rule out that you are trying to retroactively fit guesses, so such a test is invalid.

One may note also that the last four digits of your number (2 5 6 9) are in increasing order; this seems to suggest that you created this number yourself, instead of using a random number generator.

Actually, you've hit on a real phenomenon. Random numbers will, randomly, appear to have patterns. Some random numbers will not look random. When people try to think of random numbers, they impose all sorts of rules on themselves as to what might "seem" random - including odd numbers, not putting two numbers in sequence, etc.

The true random number will not be constrained by these preconceptions.

In any case, I used an internet-based random number generator and set it to 5 digits each between 0 and 9.

Here, one sees that number 3 appears twice. This may have been also a way to suggest (without saying it clearly) that the correct answer in my test was a 3. Tiktaalik has (like you) a history of 100% hit rate in my test.

I didn't take your latest test. I generated a random 5 digits using a program on the internet. I didn't post a guess in your thread.

If you want to find evidence that you are telepathic, you have to do it correctly. If you want to feel better, repair your relationship with your mother, and stop yourself from endlessly percevarating, ask a loved one for help today.

What was non serious about my number and response?
Your answer was:
12345

My confidence is one in 100,000.
In contrast, jsfisher's answer was:
Am I too late? I wanted to put in 32579. I was sensing that fairly strongly.
So, your answer was just a random guess, the first and simplest sequence of five digits that came to your mind, and you admitted yourself that the probability of you being correct was 1/100,000 (this probability is typical of a random guess), this had apparently nothing to do with telepathy, in a telepathy test.
On the contrary, jsfisher (apparently) exhibited some "scientific emotion", he said he had "sensed" something, and even "fairly strongly".
So, in one of my tests, I would say that jsfisher's answer would get a positive credibility, but not yours (even though it would be accepted as valid).
