Tesla and SpaceX cannot exist without taxpayer money and regulatory shelter and punitive tariffs on competitors.
That is why Investors shrugged the purchase of Twitter off as a wise investment if it bought Musk a President. as it did.

Too bad Musk didn't pay enough to keep him.

I am reminded of Machiavelli's thoughts about mercenaries.

If you employ ones that aren't ruthless (and ambitious) you're wasting your money. If you employ ones that are, your at risk from their ambition.

Seems to be a conspiracy theory running through the Democrat undercurrents that this breakup is staged.
Some people are suggesting that they're doing it deliberately in order to distract people while they push through the law that says that courts can't enforce court orders.

I don't think either of them are clever enough to plan that. I think that the Project 2025 people who have been using them as useful idiots since January are going to push through the law while everybody is distracted, but I don't think it was a deliberate plan.

Meanwhile Stephen King calls it "Same old WWF BS".

Sure, they're performing for their followers, but leopards really do eat leopards' faces.
Some in the right are thinking up the same crazy ◊◊◊◊ as well.

This could well go badly for Trump, like a casino. Someone has to figure out some kind of "deal" for him so it does not look so bad when he fizzles into a dark lump and only is seen golfing to the "end."
I don't think so. I think the Galaxy Nazi is in the process of finding out what it is to be an idiot who's outlived his usefulness.

Besides which, if it was manufactured, there is absolutely no way they'd have gone with "believable suggestions of of paedophilia and sexual abuse".

I'd believe it if the original split was a diversion but then one of them got forgot and got their jimmies all rustled

It's 7:30 am in Washington now. Soon be time for Round 2, sports fans.
At least one of them is terminally online, like a deranged redditor, which means you never know when the next tantrum is posted. Just a pity the other one can barely stay awake even during the day.

Either way, stcoking up on popcorn.

Well I keep thinking all Elon needs to do to get on Trump's good side is paint a Dragon Red white and blue with lots of Gold detailing and call it Spaceforce 1.

Some people might prefer if Trump chose Boeing to make Spaceforce 1.

the worse musk spirals, the worse trump looks for giving him a free pass to ruin the federal government.

it’s really bittersweet how this is all going. mere months into this presidency and it’s been a completely unforced disaster

Impeach him!

Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s alliance continues to publicly implode, with the world’s richest man taking aim at the president’s signature economic policy — tariffs — and implying he should be removed from office.

“The Trump tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year,” Musk wrote on X Thursday afternoon. It marks Musk’s biggest criticism yet of one of Trump’s most beloved policies.
Musk also took aim at one of the president’s most-hated political maneuvers: impeachment. Responding to another post about who would win in a fight between Musk and Trump — which also calls for Trump to be impeached and for Vice President JD Vance to replace him — Musk simply responded: “Yes.”
