PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT! It should never be allowed to happen again

On another forum, someone welcomed the idea that he's going to stop sexually harassing women as president.

Okay, so tomorrow might be very interesting. Might be.

If the rumor is true then today a courier carried a message to the White House from the Supreme Court. Supposedly the White House asked the DOJ if Trump could actually pardon all the co-conspirators. They deferred and instead sent a memo to the Supreme Court asking for an opinion, not a decision, on the matter.

The message delivered is that SCOTUS unanimously believes Trump cannot pardon the co-conspirators.

Oh, and an aside, Sean Hannity visited the White House recently.

First I'd want to know...

Is that even a thing? The DOJ asking SCOTUS for an "opinion" on something it decides it doesn't want to have an opinion about? Does SCOTUS write opinions for executive departments on request? The DOJ is an army of lawyers, why can't an army of lawyers write an opinion?

The DOJ is currently run by...? Who could not or would not do ANYTHING to make Donny unhappy. And you DON'T want to make Donny unhappy. So an army of lawyers is currently just sitting there scratching them when they are not being furloughed.

Hi! Where did get that absolutely next level beyond ridiculous tale of the unanimous Supreme Court handing down an unanimous opinion based on a memo from the DoJ? Not kidding, I burst out laughing.

All that needed was a line at the end that said when it was read out loud at the White House all the secret service agents started clapping!

Oh mercy.... just... wow.

Of course not, it is utterly absurd.

Don't know but this is a rather unique situation, a criminal in the WH that simply wants to act above the law. Nixon and his, "If the President does it, it's not illegal" did not go over well. This is not a banana republic no matter how corrupt the legislators and the POTUS is. If the SCOTUS gets a couple more corrupt justices we could be in trouble though. Thomas is blatantly corrupt.

However, where's your link Travis?

Highly respected Senator Richard Burr, Chairman of Senate Intelligence, said today that, after an almost two year investigation, he saw no evidence of Russia collusion. “We don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia.” Thank you!

As I’ve said time and time again: Mindless obstruction is unacceptable.
The only way this divided Congress will be able to choose greatness and deliver significant legislation is by focusing on -- as President Trump put it -- “cooperation, compromise, and the common good.”

The two of them seem quite well matched in how principled and honest they are.

Indeed. While the story is plausible, given how Trump and his administration operate, the sources are necessary to evaluate how trustworthy it is.

Just to refresh people's memories...

Richard Burr served as an advisor to Donald Trump's election campaign. So, he's not exactly someone you can assume is unbiased in the matter.

Federal Judge Rules that DOJ must release redacted Michael Cohen search warrant....

... however, there's a catch.

[Judge] Pauley said the information that will remain hidden from public view when the documents are unsealed includes information about ongoing investigations by prosecutors, "including those relating to or arising from Cohen's campaign violations."

Pauley noted that "wholesale disclosure of the Materials would reveal the scope and direction of the Government's ongoing investigation."

He added that making such information public could lead "uncharged individuals to coordinate or tailor their testimony and interactions" with investigators, and lead to "witness tampering, harassment, or retaliation" if the identities of cooperating witnesses became known.

"... the judge also heeded the government’s warnings that releasing everything could jeopardize its ongoing investigation, including a probe into Cohen’s campaign finance crimes that has implicated Trump himself."

"And if the past is any prologue, unmasking those who are cooperating with the Government’s investigation or who have otherwise provided information to the Government could deter further cooperation with the investigation by ‘subject[ing] those individuals to witness tampering, harassment, or retaliation"

Upshot: Everything the Mueller really wants to keep redacted, will remain redacted.

Might end up as nothing. Might end up as a huge something.

First ran into it in this twitter thread. https://twitter.com/LouiseMensch/status/1093583224159326209

I'm being cautious about this because I don't want to fall for believing something to be true just because I want it to be true.

I'd be very careful when dealing with Louise Mensch and her "sources". She has a bit of a tinfoil hat streak, to the point that she once claimed that the Marshall of the Supreme Court had warned Trump that an impeachment case against him had begun. Which might have come as a bit of a surprise to the House, given that they're usually the ones doing that.

Louise Mensch is a nutbar who makes up ******** in order to get clicks. If she said the sky was blue, I'd stick my head out the window to check.
