Moonbat alert: Chomksy condemns Bin Laden kill.

the average iraqi was much better off under saddam than they currently are.
any iraqi-canadian i have spoken to has confirmed this.

If they are Iraqi Canadians, this means they are no longer living in Iraq, and therefore cannot know how it is to be living in post-Saddam Iraq. (BTW, why did they leave Iraq in the first place?)

But we all know you prefer dictatorships than democracies, your love for Cuba for example...

they still have family there.
one friend has family in bagdad, which is a nightmare.
do you really believe that iraq is now a democracy?
that really is quite laughable.

Please list the positive aspects of genocidal fascist regimes.

Freedomhouses's index after the overthrow of Saddam (1 is best, 7 is worst):

Political Rights Score: 5
Civil Liberties Score: 6
Status: Not Free

Freedomhouses's index under Saddam:

Political Rights Score: 7
Civil Liberties Score: 7
Status: Not Free

Therefore by objective standards, Iraq is better off without Saddam.

Case closed on that then Virus, clearly any Iraqi who tells us different is wrong, and should be pointed to the Freedomhouse study to advise them why their personal experience is wrong. Don't they know that their civil liberties score went from 7 to 6?? That's a whole point!

Anyone that doesn't have their head up their arse knows a country is better off without a genocidal fascist regime. If you want to claim that Iraqis were better off under a genocidal fascist regime then present something objective and measurable instead of "my friend said..."

Well, that's not technically 100% true. The day the Nazis surrendered, Germany was a rubble heap full of dazed, half-starved people, with half of it in the grip of the Soviet Evil Empire. Clearly, the Germans were better off when Hitler was in the saddle, riding hard. Nobody else was better off, but the Germans certainly were. And things weren't a great deal better 8 years later.

But no one would say the Germans were better off under the Nazis today, because things change. And the fact that things do change is what makes the Iraqis better off than they were under Saddam.

Your opponents will of course refuse to acknowledge the possibility of a brighter future for Iraq. For them, the future can be nothing more than the prospect of an endless series of changeless ground hog days. Otherwise, they would have no argument at all.

Ya those people disgust me so much!!

Just do us a favour, who are these people? are they posting in this thread? I want to know who to castigate as morally crippled.

Me. I'm morally crippled. Not only is every day a groundhog day but every day I kick the little groundhog squarely in its little groundhog testicles. Then I remind it that it's better off than it would be under a genocidal fascist regime.

Oh good! Someone for me to feel morally superior to...

Why do you support genocidal fascist dictators jiggeryqua?

who would those people be?
left to their own devices, the people if iraq would eventually figure it out.
when the u.s. and its allies leave iraq to the iraqis, and quit interfering in their governance, they will be fine.

So everything was fine in Rwanda in 1994 since no one interfered?

Why are we even talking about Iraq? I thought this thread was about Chomsky. And the last thing we were talking about in regards to Chomsky was what he said about Afghanistan, not Iraq.
