Mitt Romney transition website

It would've been foolish of them not to develop a transition site and have it ready to go the day after the election. Their only mistake was putting it up prematurely.

My wife worked for a charity with people on the ground in third world nations.
They have a "black site" ready to put on-line in case of something happens to their people in a conflict zone.

Having communication ready for an eventuality is just good communication strategy.

Some idiot hit the wrong button, that's all.

He SAID he had no concession speech in a rally on Monday.

Just found this:

From the moment Mitt Romney stepped off stage Tuesday night, having just delivered a brief concession speech he wrote only that evening, the massive infrastructure surrounding his campaign quickly began to disassemble itself.

Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked.
During the awkward hours when everyone who wasn't onscreen at Fox News was wondering when Romney would concede, one TV newscaster suggested we might be waiting for him to write his concession speech. The station then played its clip of Romney saying he had written only the one speech, a victory speech.

Romney's concession speech wasn't bad at all. Brevity is good.

The New Zealand part of Oz, I believe. :)

Not that I've particularly noticed pictures like that in the Oz part of Oz.

I always confuse your flag with ours!:o
Portraits of the Queen, Premiers and Ministers are very popular here, at the state and local level of government.

I think it comes down to the State/Province and municipality whether you will see pictures of the head of state. In the US it is pretty common in a political government building, like state capitols or legislatures. When it comes down to government service offices in the US it has been hit or miss in my experience. There is always some level of cult of personality around the President, and it is not uncommon for office heads to put up the pictures of the President if they consider themselves politically linked. There are also many who just put pictures of every President as a matter of respect to the office. This follows for state Governors as well though not as commonly. It is really no different than having pictures of people on currency, or monuments in my opinion, just less permanent and easier to do for current transitional popularity.

A funny scene from the excellent movie "War Room", a documentary of the first Clinton campaign, shows Carville and Stephanopolis in doubt whether Clinton could win at some point. Carville jokingly says they better start to write a concession speech. In Carville's typical gallows humor style, he keeps spouting one liners of a potential Clinton concession while George begins to get really annoyed.
