Militia question 1

shanek said:
Those are the words of a Congressional resolution that passed unanimously.

I don't care, shanek: The word is there: Creator. What does that mean, if not God?

shanek said:
Claus, who gave you your dreams? Who gave a lead brick its heaviness? The answer is that no human individual or authority granted these things; that's just a part of the nature of human beings and lead bricks, respectively.

You are saying that rights are determined by natural law?

shanek said:
You cannot take away the rights of humans any more than you can hook up a vacuum cleaner to a lead brick and suck out all the heavy. You can violate a person's rights, just like you can "violate" a brick's heaviness by tying it to a bunch of helium balloons, but either way, there must be a particular and specific application of force to do so.

Our rights, in our LEGAL system, exist without and predate the Constitution. The very language of the Constitution confirms that. Your usual dishonesty in trying to make this a religious issue is just a red herring, and dangerously close to an ad hominem.

What does "Creator" mean, if not God?

shanek said:
I just created a web application; I am its creator. Does that make me divine?

Answer the question, please. If "Creator" does not mean God, what then?

CFLarsen said:
You can't do something that inflicts (on?) my rights.

AND that your rights are not limited to what's in the Constitution.

That, which is not dealt with by the Constitution is left for the States or people to decide.

Right; so if there's nothing in the Constitution giving the Federal government the power to restrict firearms ownership, they can't do it.

Is this clear now?

(whatever that means - what, in the States, is not covered?)

Article I Section 10 and the 14th Amendment place restrictions on what states can do. Other than that, it's up to the individual state constitutions.

You got a hell of a nerve to demand answers, when you refuse to answer questions yourself, you hypocrite.

I have answered every question you have put to me and you know it. You, OTOH, evade question after question.

CFLarsen said:
So? It doesn't change the fact that there have been retroactive laws in the US.

And that doesn't change the fact that they aren't allowed by the Constitution. Our government is ignoring the Constitution more and more as time goes on.

shanek said:

That is demonstrably false. You are a liar.

I don't understand why you lie so blatantly, but I suppose you have your reasons.

Didn't you read my post to Luke? I do spend time away from here, you know.

It could simply refer to the laws of Nature. That is certainly how Jefferson meant it, and he's the one that wrote it.

Oh, brother, here we go again with your conspiracy lunacy.... :hb:

CFLarsen said:
Answer the question, please.

I did, Claus. Now YOU answer MINE: am I a divine being because I created a web application?

shanek said:

But was it? In reality?

Forget all this "could, would, should"-thinking. Deal with reality!

CFLarsen said:

YOU are the liar, Claus. EACH AND EVERY TIME you levy this ridiculous accusation I ask you for an example, and EACH AND EVERY TIME you come back with a question I have already answered.

shanek said:
I did, Claus.

Your answer was that you don't know what "Creator" meant?

shanek said:

We are talking about rights.

Hardly comparable to websites.

CFLarsen said:

I knew you'd pull your usual bigoted crap, Claus...but once again you have worked yourself into a corner. You ADMIT and even ASSERT that the US has passed ex post facto laws, which are expressly forbidden by the Constitution. What malfunction you have in your non-skeptic brain that leads you to such lunacy, I couldn't begin to guess.

And now, the shouting and ranting begins....

What's next? Are you going to threaten me with a gun again?

CFLarsen said:

I know what Jefferson meant when he wrote it, and that is what I answered with.

We are talking about rights.

Hardly comparable to websites.

Keep evading the question, pseudo-skeptic.

CFLarsen said:

Claus, I have NEVER threatened you with a gun and you know it. Furthermore, you have just commmitted an illegal activity by accusing me of a crime. This post will be reported to the moderators.

Yes, yes, sure: The insults.

Doesn't change reality one bit: There have been retroactive laws in the US. And it's all a huge government conspiracy...

Did you not threaten to bring a gun to TAM3, solely to "p!ss me off"?

How can I possibly understand that, other than a threat??

Are retroactive laws unconstitutional or not, Claus?

CFLarsen said:

Claus, you know PERFECTLY WELL that I NEVER stated that I would EVER use a gun against you.

I see this as a threat to bring a gun to TAM3.

Bringing a gun somewhere is NOT a threat. Threatening someone with a gun is a very serious crime. You have committed libel against me.
