Merged Migraine Test, VFF, and LightinDarkness

I've had migraines cured by massage. Some of the migraines I get are from clenching my teeth. Nothing paranormal about it at all.

Yes, I used to go for shiatsu myself, unless it was too late and I was having a full blown episode.

I imagine, though, that your massages were carried out by a trained and licensed massage therapist, and not an amateur?

My migraines are triggered by allergies and stress. Relief is found only when I pass out due to lack of sleep, or after a marathon session of coital activity.

Wow, I see Anita Ikonen aka VisionfromFeeling has decided to study her new ability - curing migraines.
I also see Anita Ikonen is asking for assistance from JREF skeptics in designing the study.

There is a moderated thread which was set aside especially for discussion of this issue. People have received warnings and yellow cards for discussing it outside of that thread. It might be a good idea to post all comments there.

Migraines are no joke.

Especially when the current plan is to play pseudo-scientific games with people who get migraines in order to feed a woo's juvenile desperate need for attention.

Yes, although ultimately the greatest relief from migraines came from a dental device so that I can no longer clench my teeth. All I have left are hormonal migraines. Those are never cured through massage or hot packs or cold packs. Just massive doses of pain killers.

Thanks Geemack, however Anita has brought up a NEW discussion on this subject in the moderated VFF General Discussion thread. Tres confusing!
Or has she returned to the old discussion? I could not be sure because the old discussion involved LightinDarkness and that headed nowhere and LiD is nowhere to be found/not mentioned in the new discussion in the general thread. As I said, tres confusing!

Healing migraines appears to be Anita's new MAIN claim and so I thought it only right that it took centre stage, set aside from the old perfiffle of kidney claims, shoe tests, interviews, breatharian mudslides etc...
I could be wrong.

I never had a word for my problem before but I think it is a migraine.

I don't see how quality time with Anita has a downside.

You've admitted that your desire comes down to simple lust for the woo.

So correct me if I'm wrong here...

VfF now claims she has the paranormal ability to...wait for migraines to go away.

Sounds to me like you are using cure in a different way than I think others are. Anita's claims are not about bringing immediate relief to a current migraine. What she described this this:

We [Anita and her fiance] know a person who was suffering from frequent migraines. He had seen many types of doctors and tried all available medication, and even resorted to alternative medicine such as acupuncture and herbal medicines. His migraines were becoming very frequent. He was having three or four weekly, and with the withdrawal time after a migraine affecting the days after a migraine, his problem was pretty much constant. He felt helpless and to the point of wanting to die.

The treatment:
Using my "vision from feeling", I looked into his head and found some dark areas just above the optical nerves. I treated those by creating with my mind another vibrational structure and applying it to that area by seeing it there in my mind's vision. I did this to remove the black areas. Next when I looked, the black areas were gone. I continued to work on the top of his head now with manual manipulation (using my hands to press on pressure points to affect blood vessels and nerves, just by feeling and seeing what goes where), to balance the imbalance that I was feeling.

What I thought I was doing was changing things in the blood vessels and nerves, changing their "voltage". I told him that I am changing it so that the nerves and blood vessels in the neck and upper back are not "on the same page" as those in the head that engage in the migraines. I did this by applying a different "voltage"/vibrational pattern over the one that I was feeling and so changing the one that I would feel from the body. All in my mind. But changing how I see tissues in my mind, can change how I will see it from the body at a later time.

The Results
A month later I heard from him and found out that other than that one migraine the same night of the treatment, he had only had two migraines within a month's time. If following the same trend as previously he would have had about 3 a week, for a total of 12. That is a reduction by 10, which is pretty significant. Before "treatment" his migraines had continually become worse over the course of several years, becoming more frequent and more painful, and more long-lasting each time. Now there was a very sudden and dramatic improvement.

Later we learned that the man had been suffering migraines for something like 50 years and nothing ever worked. Apparently they were so bad he couldn't do much of anything. Suddenly, after this "treatment" he was able to exercise and spend time with his wife, and was grateful for "getting his life back."

So, we're not talking about feeling like you've got a migraine coming or currently have one, and Anita gives you a "massage" of some sort so you don't need to lay down in a quiet, dark room for hours. We're talking about a cure that resolves a 50 year old problem that made a man "suicidal" it was so bad, and now he's out exercising!

Migraines come and go. It takes a lot of people tracking migraines for a period of time to know if something works or not like in this study on gabapentin or this one on topiramate. It's foolish to look for a "volunteer" to study something even if it were a real medicine. To consider such a "test" for something as foolish as this claim is pointless at best.

For those of you who do not suffer from migraine, believe me: you will try about anything to try to make them stop.

My migraines declined dramatically after spending just 20 minutes with a man in suit! I had one that evening, and after that, none for a whole month, after having them at least weekly for several months.

He was a divorce lawyer.

True story--reducing stress often helps, whether due to direct biochemical changes or by stopping indirect triggers (tooth-clenching, eating trigger foods, sitting still while boiling angry inside). So I am not surprised that migraines often yield, in the short term, to placebo.

Making it stick is a different point.

Just my thoughts, MK

And this is EXACTLY what makes Anita's latest attempt at getting attention so wrong. She is preying on people who are desperate and in so much pain...all for attention.

Shes trying to grab on to anything to stay in the spotlight. But this goes over the line.

To all of us who operate in reality, its quite clear Anita has no special abilities. She has failed every test on every supernatural ability she thinks she has - both those administered by herself and outside organizations. We should not humor her again as she goes for this attention grab.

If you have migraines, learn from my experience: her harassment and posting of my private conversations with her only gave me headaches to go on top of the migraines. DO NOT put yourself through it.

And why should anyone give her any credence whatsoever? Because she has a track record of substantiate her claims or keeping her word?

UncaYimmy, I'm surprised this man isn't shouting the good news from the roof tops!
Is this the same man you were allowed to call but weren't to speak to his wife or something?
Why would something so wonderful, so groundbreaking, be so secret?

Zep, it is not a new claim, Anita has announced that it is now something to be studied.
The kidneys are done.

Oooh. Tantalizing! Tell us more!

He was a divorce lawyer.
Sigh.

You make excellent points, but Anita been told this before (repeatedly). I, too, suffer from migraines. I can go months without any and then get them weekly for a couple of months then go back to a once or twice per month deal. That's just not unusual at all. It's important to note that her "patient" was under the care of a doctor and continued to take his regular medication.

So, what we have here is someone who thinks she can see inside the brain (we know she can't see kidneys inside the body), construct a "vibrational pattern" and "transmit light" from her brain to another to alter the "voltage" of the nerves and blood vessels in the exact manner required to cure the person. All this with no training whatsoever and no risk to the patient. I'm surprised something like this didn't happen since she has no experience controlling her abilities.

Note: Might not be suitable for the faint of heart

This self-proclaimed skeptic has been told about the patterns migraines follow and that even if the story is 100% accurate (a dubious proposition), it is meaningless, especially since the person is taking medication to prevent migraines. Despite this, she contacted a local migraine sufferers Meetup group to ask them if she could come to a meeting and treat them even though their Meetup group page specifically said practitioners who are not sufferers themselves are not welcome.

FYI, upon seeing VFF's public post to that Meetup group, I contacted the lady in charge and pointed her to www.StopVisionFromFeeling.com. She thanked me, expressed exasperation and shortly thereafter made the Meetup group private so that non-members could not send messages to the group.

As LightinDarkness said, this is simply a grab for attention. Without dozens of patients in double-blind, placebo controlled trials running for several months with reliable medical professionals at the helm, there exists no way to confirm or falsify this claim. We all know that, so all the other issues of her reliability when it comes to testing aside, there's no reason to entertain this any further.

Unless, of course, it's for entertainment.

Zep, it is not a new claim, Anita has announced that it is now something to be studied.
But she needs to state clearly what the "paranormal ability" actually is that will be tested. And from what I read here, that "paranormal ability" is for her to wait for migraines to go away by themselves in time.

The kidneys are done.
Eh?

I almost forgot about that. Thanks for bringing it up. Anita claimed repeatedly to have "affidavits" from this person, but like her promised study results from a year ago, they were never produced. I offered to talk to the persons involved, and VFF accused me (jokingly, she said) of "stalking." I withdrew my offer.

After that, she did send me the phone number and first name of her boyfriend (the "patient" is a friend of his) and the phone number of the patient. I was not given the patient's first or last name. I was told that if the wife answered the phone, I was not allowed to tell her what the call was about but merely to ask to speak to her husband. So, even if I had not withdrawn my offer, I never would have agreed to those terms. As such, the story remains unverified.

Personally, I find the story less than credible, especially with the claimed affidavits never appearing and the suspicious manner in which I was supposed to verify this story by phone.
