Point of information. As has been mentioned, last night was the Super Bowl in American Football and the Green Bay (Wisconsin)
Packers played the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bratwurst and Chicken Wings are traditional fare for Packer games, and being one myself I too was eating both of them. Wisconsin is also, of course, known for it's beer, both the cheap Amercian pisswater we export to everyone else, and the really fine microbrews we keep for ourselves. I see the Obamas are connoisseurs as Hinterland is a real beer, as is the one from Pennsylvania, Yuengling.
The truly ironic thing here is Wisconsin is in the top third for life
expectancy despite having the highest percentage of
'heavy drinkers,' most widespread use of
alcohol and one of the higher
obesity rates in the US. Beer and bratwurst not being especially good for your figure, the latter being so delicious as it could be satirically described as spiced fat with some meat for flavor.
This combination would tend to irritate those who might just be on a health campaign, however being as the Packers
spanked the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship game to get to the Super Bowl, she might just have decided to
choke down a bratwurst figuring if she can't beat 'em, then join 'em.
Of course there's also the fact that Wisconsin is a swing state and despite going for Obama in 2008 we replaced a Democrat governor and Senator with Republicans, thus perhaps it was decided for public relations purposes that Super Bowl Sunday was not the day to be eating quiche and crackers.
