Fox Nation has found a new reason to hate Michelle Obama:
Michelle Obama's Shocking Anti-Obesity Super Bowl Menu

The White House has released the following menu for the Super Bowl party that President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are hosting at the White House:

- Bratwurst
- Kielbasa
- Cheeseburgers
- Deep Dish Pizza
- Buffalo Wings

Who knows if Michelle Obama actually had anything to do with choosing the menu, but who cares? Maybe this was posted tongue-in-cheek, but the commenters aren't hiding their hate or racism at all.

Kenyan Pigs at the Public Trough, Just like the United Nations. Pay for hate, the America way. STOP THE MADNESS, NO more money to the UN or Socialist Countries.
Well that's the way socialist are...the programs and commands are for the "little people", of course that does not apply to the monarchs and his family! If you'll notice in russia's communist government, all the government learders have the life of riley, everybody else is a slave and dirt poor one way or the other...It's a taste of what obama wants for the people of this country....enjoy your little snippit of the future if you dont stand for freedom!
Thats the Obamas. Michele eats and eats but you should watch what you eat. The green people scream about the earth.. did you see how clean DC was when the tea par ty left there? Did you see what a pi g sty Jon Ste warts crowd left? And barry will waste 200 t housand in gas to fly some where to read a teleprompter for 5 minutes. But he wants you to cut down on energy. Give me a break with these people. They just want to pass reg ulations and they dont even abbide by th emselves. How ignorant
Exactly. Michelle's eating rules are for the little people. Don't think she'll eat like she preaches, and don't think that she or Barry will be on a waiting list for new hips or whatever when they're old, that will be for the fools who are paying their pensions. Perhaps Michelle will live by example and die of complications of diabetes from her fattening banquets and Barry will be a living example of what happens to smokers. Light another cigarette and lead the moral parade, Barry!
Want to bet MOOChelle jumped to the head of the line, to be the first to 'PIG OUT"?
Moochelle says "let them eat cake, rice cakes, we'll eat the good stuff !!"
Tie on the feed bag Sasquatch, what a hypocrite.

. . . ad nauseum

This is where the false equivalency of the right fails. No matter how unpopular Bush became, how hated even, I never saw this much vitriol aimed at Laura Bush. Michelle gets it for everything from going on vacation to wanting people to eat healthier.
I think if she had taken up literacy as a cause like the last FLOTUS we would be hearing how she was trying to turn us all into elitist readers or something.

**Nods** Absolutely

As an aside - being the President of the US is a tough job, no matter your politics. Giving the person the day of to watch a football game does not seem that big a deal.

Did those commentators make any mention of the Republican ex members of government that were also there?

Was the "story" at Fox nation written by Laura Graham? She's had a raging hard on for Michelle for as long as I can remember.

You know, there is a difference between party foods and a normal daily meal.

To be honest after seeing the entire menu it is a bit ironic, given her stated position on healthy eating, that the First Lady (the person who is supposed to at least be checked with on menu items for these kinds of things irregardless of her politics or positions on nutrition) has only one thing on there that would be considered "Healthy" (Salad). Everything else is pretty much on the list of what one would stop eating (and drinking) if one wanted to lose weight or simply not be fat in the first place. One or two items would probably be ok but when less than 10% of the choices fit into her stated positions on healthy eating you should expect a bit of ridicule for when you offer your family and guests those types of food.

Seriously, how about veggies and dip instead of chips and Yogurt instead of ice cream. Is it really important that they specify a deep dish pizza instead of a thinner slice of what most people get? Brats and Kielbasa? I mean, I get it, you're from Chicago and that's typical Chicago style comfort food but Da Bears aren't even playing this year.

I guess it would be comparable to Laura Bush telling people to not read any of the classics like Moby Dick but instead to just read the Classics Illustrated versions to get the same experience.

And why on earth did they need to give free advertising for Snyders snacks and three different breweries in a White House press release? Did Frito-Lays and Anheiser Busch not offer them any free samples or something? That whole press release is really very poorly thought out in general.

And why are the ranting rightwingers assuming that Michelle planned the menu? Are we even sure she even bothered to watch the bloody game?

Actually it would be comperable to Laura Bush saying people need to read more substantive fare in their daily lives then bringing a copy of People on Air Force One to peruse during a flight from D.C. to Crawford.

In both cases it's not something worth even being aware of, much less having an opinion about.

In 2011 the white house chefs are still expected to ask the first lady what to make for parties? Are you sure that didn't go out sometime in the 70s?

Point taken about maybe having some healthier choices available, but it is a super bowl party. Also, I don't know why they had a press release, but that also probably didn't have anything to do with Michelle Obama either. There's a lot of people on the white house staff, and they probably aren't all micromanaged by the first lady.

We need to look at their diets as a whole to talk about whether they eat well, instead of cherry-picking what they have on one day.

I somehow suspect what is eaten on one particular day that happens to be a special occasion has little to do with the overall issue of diet.

Without firsthand knowledge I can't give you a definitive answer to that question other than to say that a bit of common sense says that she has a some influence on what her husband and children eat and I can't find anything online that suggests differently. I did find a few articles on her choices for chefs at State Dinners and while I wouldn't put a Super Bowl party anywhere near that level of requiring her attention to detail one would think that if they are going to release a menu to the press that at a minimum it would have been noticed that it didn't really follow along with what she's been stressing in regards to healthy eating and that some adjustments could have been made to at least make it appear better than it does. I wouldn't really call that micromanaging considering it's her own choice to try and inform the public on how to try and eat healthier.

I don't really care about it one way or the other, I was just pointing out the irony of the situation.

Hate the Obamas, or love them, you've got to admit they have no class.

Maybe not NONE, they did host a party.

Well, you know, people that acutally read tend to be smarter and have better critical thinking skills, unlike people who just vegitate in front of FOX all day.

Irrelevant. She's technically the hostess to White House social events, and blathered on and on about healthy eating.

The mocking observation is thus valid.
