Any suggestion of foul play is unsubstantiated paranoid speculation at best.
So if he slipped on ice on his front step would the paranoia lead to...

Thank goodness we have detectives who don't think that way or no murders would ever get solved. What you call paranoia might be considered healthy skepticism or curiosity.
