In your news link it said Ferguson requested St. Louis County takeover the investigation. Why would that stop Ferguson from issuing a statement?

This is from your link.

This is what people want to know. How do we get from inside the car to thirty-five feet away?

An officer killed an unarmed person and twenty-four hours later the police don't even know how many times the officer fired? They have no idea? Did they ask him? The fact is, when the police respond like this then some people, many people actually, think it looks like a coverup might be underway.

I'm, not saying that statement is what you wanted. I'm just pointing out that FPD was not in charge from the 10th onwards.

We essentially have a third party doing the investigation as of 8/10.

I'm looking for a source for this:

"Last September in Charlotte NC in a very similar case, a cop fired twelve shots, killing an unarmed man running towards him, the officer was arrested within 48 hours....[In Ferguson] the officer killed an unarmed man and witnesses alleged it was done execution-style."

That's all.

If you wanted a source for that why did you quote this?

You're twisting the meaning of my words by taking them out of context. Here's what you left out

If Wilson wasn't a police officer does anybody really believe he would not have already been arrested?
I know this is probably against all likelihood to meet with success, but could you pretty please cite your sources?

I'm not a mind reader. I'm not ready to take a shot at winning the million dollars. You want a source? There was a thread about this incident. More than you want to know.

I have to believe you understand why it is sometimes not a good idea to go public with all the information you have relating to an investigation; so I wonder why you are even questioning it.

P.S. Just saw your last reply..

I'm also sure you understand the difference between eyewitness reports and video recordings....

Hmmmm. I read an interview with Johnson, I'm trying to remember where now so I can provide a link, where he pretty much says, his life is more miserable now than it was before, if that was possible. He has a girlfriend and a daughter he cares about and had to leave the apartment they had because of this. He also talks about not being able to find work. I wonder, (Wonder mind you, another word for thinking.), if true, that the witness protection program might start to look very attractive to a young man with a family and little to no future prospects where he is. A new life, location, home, work, just for telling the truth? Not all that far fetched, is it?

My walking stride is about a yard. 11.66 steps. I haven't measured my running stride but am willing to state it is longer.
Like the GZ/TM case some will claim short distances ar impossibe to traverse in a few steps or seconds.
Next up will be the claims Wilson's injuries were self inflicted.

Earlier this summer my son turned his head directly into a pitched baseball. His nose was fractured and bled quite a bit. Once the blood stopped he looked normal except his nose was slightly swollen. It wasn't until the next day that two small bruises appeared under his eyes.
A blurred crappy video still of what looks to me like Homer Simpson is no evidence of injury one way or the other. Another GZ blast from the past.

I don't agree with you. You're a police officer, you support Wilson. I understand that, if I was a police officer I'd probably support him too.
I didn't see where he supported the police officer. I see where he supported not rushing to judgment without all the facts.

From the fact that he supports Wilson, it doesn't follow that the reason he does so is because he's a police officer.

I understand that, if I was a police officer I'd probably support him too.

That's too bad. You should really base your support or lack of support on reasoning on the evidence.

I'm sure it is not PC, and I'm sure it will make heads explode, but it is interesting to consider what would have became of Michael Brown if he hadn't been killed in this incident. There are rumors that he was about to start classes for HVAC or something similar, but it seems very likely to me at least that he was on a path to more and more trouble with the law.

He probably would have been arrested in the riots...

He was 18 and had time to be whatever he would become. HVAC can be a great career. He could have fallen in love, got married, and became a father. Too bad we will never know.

I'll repeat what I wrote.

<snip>
Folks see "police shoot unarmed black teen-ager" and that's it. It must be a brutal murder with no justification.

<snip>

That's nonsense. Cops shoot people everyday and you almost never get this kind of public reaction. Why is this case so different? <snip>

To describe this as, "Folks see "police shoot unarmed black teen-ager" and that's it," is baloney. Folks saw that police had shot an unarmed black teenager and heard that two seemingly credible witnesses alleged it was clearly excessive and unwarranted."

That's the difference here and I can't believe that anyone doesn't understand that.

Well, an injury to Wilson is being reported by the NYT, and the NYT article seems to indicate that there are witnesses who favor Wilson's purported account.

It seems like Brown may have turned and raised his hands, but then lowered them and charged.

A few tweaks on Johnson's account are in there, too.

Number one, why did you change the way I spelled Ferguson? Number two, why would the police want to "dismiss" eye witness accounts?
Number one, my phone bumped the cursor up to your line & I didn't pay attention to the spelling.
Number two, they shouldn't, but its easier to do so.
