This isn't "She had a short skirt on." This is "Hey, you attacked us, so we're going to fight back." Again, it's all terrible, but I don't know what the people are supposed to do.

Personally, I'd have let people just protest, and march up and down the street, and left it at that. These cops decided to shoot tear gas at people, to rough them up, and so on.

Oh, I didn't mean to say that you were actually victim blaming, but that it was much closer to it than what I had said. At the very least yours had to do with actions of the broad group to which the victims in this case belonged.

Yes, and I explained why in the part of the post you snipped. Violence in the protest taints the peaceful nature of the protest. It's no longer peaceful. Those protestors who set out to protest peacefully are now participating in a violent protest. That they are participating peacefully does little to alter the public perception--or the reality of the violent protest. I don't know what the solution is, for these peaceful protestors in violent protests, but I do think it's obviously a problem for them.

I like this concept.

Can we apply it to sporting venues and music halls? Bars? PTA meetings?

It's got a lot of potential.

The police don't set up the system designed to generate revenue for city coffers, the elected politicians do that. The police simply work in the framework they're given.

Enabling, are they?

Everyone blaming the police are completely missing the point.

Maybe it's a different point.

Are they enriching the the city coffers on a non-bigoted basis? Or are a disproportionate percentage of minorities being singled out?

That wouldn't have anything to do with the elected politicians, would it?

As is everyone outraged by that report who aren't 100% behind completely ending the "war on drugs". This type of thing is an inevitable result of that war.

I've never met a cop who signed up to write traffic tickets and parking violations, they'd much rather be solving burglaries and murders and robberies. But politicians see them as revenue generators and demand they fill that role.

Nobody held a gun to their heads and forced them to be cops in that police force. It even seems like some of them may have gravitated there when they couldn't hack it elsewhere.

Indeed, and if it was part of the war on drugs it seems strange that in vehicle stops, the arrest rate is higher for blacks than whites, as contraband is found more often in searches of white cars.

Almost as if something else is at play.

Sorry to bump the thread, I just wanted to say it one time. It's extremely annoying to hear the news, especially Fox, claim that Wilson was exonerated. No, he was not. The DoJ merely said they didn't have enough evidence for a case.

Five witness' accounts dismissed against some whack-job nut case claiming she was there when there was evidence she wasn't? I do hope the Brown family sues Wilson so we can have an actual trial instead of the corrupt grand jury 'trial' that people are claiming exonerated Wilson.

I'm not sure if the problem was with Wilson or his training. I think it is fair to say that there was a problem, because Police in the UK routinely deal with large, aggressive drunks without killing them. Police in other countries do so too.

Exonerated is the wrong word, more like they found no evidence of wrongdoing. If they could have found any there was enough pressure to move ahead, and the DoJ would have since Ferguson was unable to.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention at all, which is proven by your post. Instead of bumping threads just to state an opinion backed up by no evidence, perhaps you should have read the thread. Those 5 witness accounts were almost as pathetic as the nut jobs statement. They admitted they didn't see anything and were just parroting what they heard in their neighborhood. Do try to keep up.

I'm sure they have an amazing case to take to claims court too. The trouble is the two investigations that found no wrongdoing. The grand jury trial being corrupt is ignorant of the process, and it also implies that the DoJ investigations were also corrupt. Do me a favor and prove any of that with some evidence instead of assertions and hindsight nonsense.

The fact other countries are able to deal with large, aggressive people has nothing to do with the gun culture in those countries in comparison to the US, would it? Cops don't carry guns in most of the countries you're comparing the US to. Criminals go in to altercations knowing they *probably* won't be shot unless it escalates dramatically. Just like cops have to be afraid of guns, criminals that are beating cops up have to fear guns as well.

I find it amazing that people are still banging on about this incident.

Are you *********** serious ? They didn't say they didn't have enough evidence, DOJ investigators found “no credible evidence to refute Wilson’s stated subjective belief that he was acting in self-defense".

That's called exoneration.

That ignores the 5 eye witnesses. Prosecutors often make decisions not to prosecute because there isn't a strong enough case, not because there is no evidence. The DoJ had a different case to prove, that Wilson's racism was the motivation. That's different from, the cop kept shooting as the suspect was trying to surrender.

[snipped BS]
I have been paying attention, to the case, not to opinions in the thread.

Same old same old.

No evidence for a civil rights case. That's different from, no evidence of negligent homicide.

There wasn't any evidence. If you're aware of any you should contact the FBI and the Missouri State Police, because they don't have any.

But if your "evidence" is a link to some moonbat site you can probably not bother.

I love it.
This clown tried to shoot a cop with his own gun, this lie has spawned so many people suffering from Gottaberightis it's astounding.

SG, why weren't you around to add all your deep insight while this originally finished unfolding?
Why only stop by and blow the dust off a thread, just to simply spout long discounted information, as if it were going to be allowed to slide in unnoticed?
Enquiring minds want to know.
