Michael Avenatti thread

So should we expect Trump to start tweeting about how the length of his sentence is too long, and how what Avenatti did wasn't really that serious?

I think this says so much about the Democrats and Republicans...

Avenatti may have had some association with the Democrats, but they recognize that he did a crime and should pay. Stone was associated with the republicans, and after his conviction, the republican party jumps in to try to limit his sentence.
 
The early pages of this thread is a good example of why an "Enemy of my Enemy Is My Friend" is often a dumb strategy.

Since it's you, I'm guessing that this is supposed to be some kind of "owning the libs" post. That makes me think that it's intended to be posted as a kind of "ha! Look how wrong this article from 2 years ago was!" And that just makes me think that you didn't read past the headline.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in any of those suppositions.

I skimmed the first few pages to see how embarrassed I should be.

All I really felt was sad that TBD couldn't be here to gloat a bit about his wet dreams coming true. He poured his heart and soul into proving to us that Thirsty was a bad hombre, and now it seems the wheels of justice have finally proved our obese canine friend right.

And all we did was joke about the boy and and his obsession. That wasn't very polite of us.

And . . . now I'm over it.
 
You gotta admit, Avenatti really rode the currents of resistance lib hysteria like a pro. It is pretty notable that wide swaths of the country decided this slimey lawyer was some hero just because he was sticking it to Trump.

In the end, the fraudster was simply spinning too many plates and it eventually came crashing down.
 
Let's not forget Avenatti's own predictions about the future.

I think al it shows is that you can be right and still be a bad person. Avenatti was right about Cohen's illegal campaign contributions to Trump. He produced evidence that could not be interpreted any other way.

Try as he might, TBD could not give a coherent explanation of how the Daniels payments were legal. He could not explain how the unsigned NDA was legal. Nor could he explain how Avenatti's other troubles made the Daniels allegations less true.

It turned out rather quickly that Avenatti had serious legal and ethical problems of his own, and he let his own fame lead him into even worse behavior.

But I never considered Avenatti a saint and never believed anything just because he said it.

The world isn't black and white. Avenatti wasn't about wrong about the Daniels allegations because he was a crook. Sometimes bad people do good things. TBD has not been vindicated, nor has anyone who believed Stormy Daniels been proven wrong.

the primary purpose of this thread was to serve as a shinny object to keep posts about Avenatti from derailing another thread. The curious part was this thread lasted far longer than the one I was trying to keep clear of this junk.
 
Avenatti has an uphill climb ahead of him. Nike was his least sympathetic victim. Avenatti still has to face his other trials for ripping off his clients, which includes Stormy Daniels and a disabled man that allegedly lost his social security benefits due to Avenatti's fraud.

Agreed.

I would only add that Avenatti could only seem effective when set against Cohen and Trump.

Now the question is, between Cohen and Avenatti, who will spend more time in jail?

Almost certainly Avenatti. He may get more time for the charge he's already lost than Cohen got total, and he has more cases ahead of him he is likely to lose. Double digit jail time seems likely.
