This is just the same problem with a different gloss as to what he intends to do with all the illegals whose countries don't want them back, whose governments have been deposed/changed, etc... I believe Ann's pumping for FEMA camps. Sheriff Joe could have 'em breaking rocks in the hot sun.

In the past, lawsuits have backfired on Trump. If this gets all the way to court, chance are that Melania's immigration status will come to light.

That would be delicious yeah. I don't see how they could have a shimmer of a chance with the lawsuit, even in the UK. AFAIK, the Daily Mail only reported that a Slovenian magazine claimed it and added in the same article that they could not find corroboration for the allegation.

I guess the press conference that was going to happen "in a couple or weeks" where Trump was going to clarify Melania's immigration status never happened. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.....

Seems that a Trump Press Conference would be a pretty lonely affair.

For almost all immigration-related paperwork, they ask you when your "first entry" was. I don't know if that is automatically verified against electronic records or if they just take your word for it. I suspect there is no attempt to verify unless other issues arise. Of course if you entered with a different passport number there would be no way to match records.
 
Melania's immigration lawyer was interviewed on Lawrence O'Donnell. Supposedly he can vouch for Melania but not documentation is to be forthcoming. We are supposed to believe him because he freely admits he's a Democrat voting for Clinton.

He let it slip he thinks Melania should be off limits, an innocent victim. O''Donnell pointed out that Trumps attacks on illegal immigrants made Melania's immigration issues relevant.

He was very lawyerly, rambling on using lawyerly words. I was not convinced, but I am convinced he will efficiently cover Melania's ass. The public is not likely to get more out of this avenue.
 
Press conference is off.

With the letter, Donald Trump said, there is no longer a need for his wife to hold a news conference on the topic, as the campaign once promised. He also reiterated his refusal to release his tax returns as Clinton and all other presidential candidates have done for decades, citing an Internal Revenue Service audit that he says is ongoing.

OK, he doesn't have to release his 2015 tax return. How about his 2014? Or 2013? They are not under audit, right?

There is no legal reason that he cannot release the ones under audit as well.
