Megan McCain "Am I Not Worthy Of Being A Member of Republican Party?" -In A Word, NO!

McCain's daughter, 24, a registered Republican since last Father's Day, believes the Republicans need to be more moderate in order to regain power. Did this bugwit miss the last Presidential election where her father, the most moderate Republican in the Party, lost?

"And what was she (Coulter) thinking when she said Hillary Clinton was more conservative than my father during the last election?"

A.C.'s observation about McCain was too narrow in scope. She neglected to include his inchoate offspring.

"P.S. I am still trying to figure out what tattoo I should get to commemorate my time on the trail. I feel like I am finally ready to commit to some new ink. So far "McCain" in gothic letters on the back of my neck is winning my unofficial survey."

Perhaps "FUBAR" would be more appropriate.

What happens when a "Republican" takes aim at Ann Coulter? Why you get booked on the Raychill Maddow show of course.

Meghan says she will never run for political office. While all concerned are grateful for this news, it does show yet another similarity between herself and Caroline Kennedy.

You know as well as I do that Coulter doesn't believe 2% of the stuff she says. She just says it on TV and in books for the money, and laughs all the way to the bank.

She started with a book claiming Democrats bias the news against Republicans (her book was inaccurate, but the claim itself is at least reasonable), and ended with a book clamiming Democrats are planning genocide.

If she really believed these things, she surely should have published the second book FIRST -- for the same reason that, if you know your neighbor is a mass murderer and cheats on his taxes, you'd go to the police first and the IRS later (if at all).

The order in which she published her books -- each one blaming the Democrats or "liberals" for more and more -- is proof enough, if any was needed, she knows the only reason people buy her books is for the "what will she say next?" excitement, so she has to always say something even more horrible about "liberals".

She long ago, however, reached the point where the ever-bigger accusations have reached such a level of absurdity nobody believes them any more, even her previous fans.

You know what? Republicans did poorly last election. I know, I know.

You know what would help them out? A good ol' fashioned witch hunt. Better root out those dangerous not-conservative-enough elements, because last election demonstrated there were just too many Republicans.

I'm laughing as this party is self-destructing.

A better idea would be to boot Ann Coulter. She isn't Conservative, she's just a mouth attached to a couple of rumps.

You're missing the point :p

The fact that in a democracy, where numbers are definitely nice, the Republicans response to failure to muster adequate numbers is to boot people out.

Doesn't matter WHO they're trying to boot out. It's just hilarious to watch. I've heard of cleaning house before, but this looks more like burning the house to the ground.

McCain lost the election for many reasons but being a moderate Repub was not one of them. On a weighted list, these reasons are infinitely more plausible:
1) Caught in the eye of the perfect political storm
2) Association with Bush's administration
3) Perceived association with Bush administration
4) Relatively limited knowledge regarding the economy (self-admitted) at the REALLY wrong time
5) Lied on the campaign trail, defended exposed lies on the campaign trail, wagered the campaign on half-truths and ad-hom/association attacks especially down the stretch
6) Presented himself as surly, combative, short-fused, out of touch, fist-shaking, cranky "old guy"
7) Picked a HORRIBLY polarizing VP running mate
8) Bad marketing

...

Eleventy) Couldn't even begin to convince the American public that he was related to the guy by the same name who seemed like a moderate 10 years prior

I’ll not even bother to weigh-in on the question of whether or not Meghan McCain is “worthy” of being in the Republican party. You GOP types can fight over that; either way you go, the rest of the political spectrum benefits.

The only way Meghan McCain can get the attention of the msm is to pick a fight with A.C., and ride her infamous coattails. Of course A.C. is a satirist in the style of Jonathan Swift, but Maddow not only takes A.C. seriously on every level, as does Meghan, she actually believes Meghan is a serious voice representing Republican youth. Is Maddow incapable of distinguishing genuine political pundits from a bugwit, whose only claim to fame is that her father is in politics? Well, MSNBC also employs Ron Reagan. Enough said.

Wow. Meghan McCain wants to change her party for the better, and she's getting crucified for her effort. I particularly like the part where people are slamming her appearance (such as the "plus sized model" bit); it really shows everyone what conservatives are all about.

Gotta love "compassionate conservatism." The fact that Cicero is joining the witch hunt surprises me not at all.

Wasn't convinced anyone would bother to respond so I waited to see. Great Thread. Good Job!

Coulter's an idiot, and the conservative wing of the GOP has gone insane.

What's Meghan's sin? Questioning the claim by Coulter that her dad was more liberal than Hillary. What kind of idiot would believe that?

Coulter would rather be an important person in a losing party than a minor figure in a winning party. I've got a hunch she is going to get her wish.

I think it's telling that the WIN AT ALL COSTS lunatic-right is doing their best to throw out members of their party even though it's in the minority. Are they preparing for election or for revolt, I wonder?

It's more like Jihad than politics.

Well, they won two elections in a row by this kind of vilification and lies. They destroyed the economy, ran up a stunning war debt, destabilized an entire region of the world, and yet we still see support.

But is she kissing Rush's butt enough, or will she be humbeled and have to appologize to him too?

I guess Cicero would rather have ideological pure GOP then one that can win elections.

No, I got the point, and I agree. It's just that Coulter, who seems to be the latest right wing darling, (aided by the fact that she's somewhat more attractive than Barbara Bush), is not helping. She's showing why the Republicans are losing support. In fact, if she'd just close her frigging yap, there might actually be a net gain among Conservative voters.

I can't speak to the part about Cicero, as I've missed a lot of what he's been posting of late, but Meghan McCain's declaration doesn't carry a lot of weight. I mean, fine, if you want to help the Party, knock yourself out. But what have you been doing during your days in college? How about in high school? What did you do after graduation? She might have a little more oomph to her statement if she'd ever done anything, and this little bit of temper just shows what a lightweight she is.

But, yes, Compassionate Conservatism is really not what the Republicans are about. If they were, you'd see a lot more Conservatives working food banks, helping out in homeless shelters, (or building them), assisting families in getting medical coverage, anything but adopting this sort of "bootstrap" mentality that you can overcome anything, even as they're kicking the disadvantaged in the gut.

The scary part is that you're probably closer to the truth than you might like to think.

Instead, you see the same kind of shortsighted meanness that has afflicted some threads on this board, vilification, insult, racist statements (from the likes of Crush Bimbo), arguments that liberals should be killed, etc.

It is exactly the same kind of call to arms we see from a radical Islamic school.

I know little about her activities in college, and you may be right.

"Why have you waited until now to take interest" would be a valid question to ask her.

But the criticisms thrown at her are nowhere near that substantial. "Useful idiot" is not a substantial criticism. "Valley Girl gone awry" is just pure Grade-A sexism. And "plus-sized model?" Don't even get me started.

It's not that the Republicans are criticizing her that I take issue with. It's that they're essentially just calling her names--for no other reason than she tried to take an interest.

And Michael Steele thinks that in this environment, he's going to be able to win young people to the party. Yeah. Good luck with that.

Yep.

McCain worked hard during the campaign to distance himself from his more moderate bipartisanship.

Regardless, why is it she isn't worthy of being a member of the Republican Party? Because she suggested that the GOP shouldn't be so extremist, because she bad mouthed Coulter or because she went on Maddow's show?

Of course they are compassionate, they care about your pain, just not enough to do anything about it.
