Media Matters' war against Fox

Portray? Who cares about who says portray what? David Brock said.
But they don't want them silenced and eliminated? They're all about free speech and the honest exchange of ideas, right?
Can you explain why you think those things are incompatible with free speech?

It is MM making that assertion, not Fox. And even if Fox is a shill for the Republicans (or, perhaps worse, an activist corporation trying to push the GOP ever farther to the lunatic fringe on an ongoing basis), who cares. Fox has a perfect right to be so. They do not claim to be a tax exempt or charitable organization.
Excuse me but you are forgetting something. A broadcaster cannot just give undeclared free air time promoting one political party. Fox gets away with it because no one seems willing to enforce campaign laws.

FEC disclaimer rules for political ads.

There are also reporting rules. Giving a free ad is the same as giving a contribution. Fox pretends not to be an advocate for the Repugs, but leaked internal editorial communications tell a different story.

Fox News Channel controversiesWP
Another allegation of Fox's critics is that it sometimes ridicules protesters, especially ones for liberal causes. For example, during the 2004 Republican National Convention, Bill O'Reilly referred to some of the protesters as "terrorists" (though he added, "most protesters are peaceful").[150][151] Fox News online columnist Mike Straka referred to anti-war protesters at the September 24, 2005, march in Washington, D.C. as "jobless, anti-American, clueless, smelly, stupid traitors" and "protesters from hell."[152][153][154]' This is in sharp contrast to the laudatory treatment the network gave to conservative and libertarian protesters of the Tea Party protests mentioned above.

Fox and MSNBC are a waste of time. And CNN isn't really even news anymore. I've given up on cable news altogether.

Welcome to the forums!

I'd like to ask, do you get your news through other sources? I'm of the opinion that the importance of televised news has declined as the internet has spread in accessibility.

I also think that the cases of individuals who rely on one source and only one source will not be affected by a group such as MM, as they're "brand loyal," so to speak, to their outlet of choice. I could be wrong.

"The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

...narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites... The shift reflects the centrality of the cable channel to the contemporary conservative movement, as well as the loathing it inspires among liberals — not least among the donors who fund Media Matters’ staff of about 90... The new strategy, he said, is a “war on Fox.” In an interview and a 2010 planning memo shared with POLITICO, Brock listed the fronts on which Media Matters — which he said is operating on a $10 million-plus annual budget — is working to chip away at Fox and its parent company, News Corp.

Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox’s top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to press advertisers to avoid Glenn Beck’s show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes. And it has hired two experienced reporters, Joe Strupp and Alexander Zaitchik, to dig into Fox’s operation to help assemble a book on the network, due out in 2012 from Vintage/Anchor.

The group will “focus on [News Corp. CEO Rupert] Murdoch and trying to disrupt his commercial interests —..."

Silence and eliminate the voice of dissent to Leftist Statism. Information control. Propaganda.

It's coming...

Have you actually read mediamatters.org?

What actually do you object to?

Seriously. have you actually looked at the web page?

Have you actually looked at mediamatters.org?

What can you point to that shows the alleged problem for a 501c. Have you actually ever read them?
What do you object to?

Wait for what? You doubt this minor foreshadowing of the consistent Leftist behavior of silencing and eliminating dissent whenever they can actually do so? Do you have any doubt that Leftists hate the Right?

Aside from your obvious conspiracy theory stuff, what has mediamatters.org done, point to specifics and how they did it.

Be clear and concise, show your work.

Is pointing out the crazy stuff Beck says actually silencing dissent?
