Matt Gaetz reported to be leaving the House

I am genuinely surprised that Gaetz had the self-awareness to withdraw from the nomination process and/or that Republican senators signalled that they were willing to impede this appointment.

I get the impression that it was the latter. Many of the articles that I've read imply that Trump told Gaetz to drop out.
 
Well, Pam Bondi, one of Donny's "successful" young blonde lawyers got the nod to replace Gaetz VERY rapidly. Maybe all that botox made his jaw too tight and brought back his gag reflex?
 
I listen to Sarah Isgur, her opinion was basically, let Trump have him because for the most part the president should get what he want's and it could be worse. I can't help but wonder who could trump pick that is worse and I'm pretty sure he can so........IDK, some mob lawyer?

He picked Pam Bondi, who has experience as a state AG, so she could be worse in that she might know how to do the job Trump wants.

I just read an article on the Daily Beast that said he could still take the seat in the house come January. The logic goes something like this, he resigned from his current house session seat, but, since he was just reelected to that seat in the upcoming house session, which hasn't started yet, he could still take it, because it's not the one he resigned from. I don't know if that line of thought is in fact possible or not, but that was what they were proposing. That same article included a comment from Gaetz's wife that implied he was done with politics altogether.
We can only hope that's the case.

It is always, always transactional with Trump, whether it be praise/worship, $$$$, or leverage.
