Ed Madeleine McCann Mystery

It seems there is some new information concerning Madeleine McCann.
According to this report (in Dutch) the possible abductor of Madelaine died in 2009.
It was a disgruntled ex-employee of the resort, who was in the neighbourhood of the resort on that night.

They think he killed Madeleine and buried her somewhere.

Haven't verified this story in other News sites though.

The important word there is highlighted.

Thats Gerry and Kate off the hook then, dead men tell no tales.
:boxedin:

PS, Disgruntled employees tend to block toilets or write bad reviews on "Trip Advisor" not kidnap and murder small children.
If he did kill Maddie then it sure wasnt a result of him being sacked.

It's a far better theory than any non-evidence conjecture by the "just asking questions" merchants......

You know, her name wasn't "Maddie".

Rolfe.

You know Gerrys name isnt Gerry either I suppose.

Exactly. Gerry's nearest and dearest call him Gerry, and he answers to Gerry very happily.

Madeleine's nearest and dearest called her Madeleine. She answered to Madeleine. There is no record of anyone who knew her calling her Maddie or referring to her as Maddie. I seems to me to be quite disrespectful to label her with a diminutive nickname now she is no longer with us.

Rolfe.

Rolfe is pointing out that she was never called Maddie prior to her disappearance.

Unlike Gerry.

In know, I was just pointing out it was a pointless point.
If people want to call her Maddie its their prerogative.
Maddie or Madeline, she's still missing.

Well, she isn't. One way or another. If I was sure she was dead, I would have said that. I don't do euphemism.

I just noticed this. I don't think it is. Obviously, nobody can be stopped from calling her whatever they like. It is however still grossly disrespectful.

If you are pointing out the obvious, that nobody can prevent people from saying things that are grossly disrespectful, then that is of course a truism. It's a "pointless point", though.

The little girl's name was Madeleine. What good does it do you to cheapen and belittle it into a diminutive that was not her name?

Rolfe.

ISTR that the red-top newspapers did the same with James Bulger, calling him Jamie which his parents did not do. It's so disrespectful to those who love(d) the child.

Even those who think the McCanns had something to do with their daughter's disappearance ought to respect the child's memory enough to call her by her name, IMO.

Exactly. The tabloid journalists did it. To make a headline easier to compose. Of course, Jargon Buster thinks it's "their prerogative". And also his, too, it seems. Anything else people would like to call the child, just because they can, and nobody will arrest them for it? Just asking.

I think it's horribly disrespectful. And yes, they did it to James Bulger too. Which didn't even make the name shorter!

It sensationalises the story, "little Jamie Bulger", "Little Maddie McCann" it tugs at the heart strings.
Of course they were "little" they were children, its just the way people use words to make a point and create impact.
Its not simply to shorten headline banners.

Its like when women have a child and people say "she's had a little girl/boy", why use the word little at all, of course its 'little' its a baby FHS.
